I bought the Logitech MX Revolution a few weeks ago, been using it for a couple weeks. It was to replace my old Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 that I've had, like, forever.
I can't say enough about this mouse. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I play a couple hours of Quake, UT or FEAR Combat every day, and spend a lot of time at the computer doing miscellaneous stuff.
The mouse is awesome. Wireless is awesome, no lag whatsoever. Its not very heavy either, definitly heavier than a wired mouse, but it's not a problem. Lag and weight was an issue with the MX 1000, on the Revolution, both problems are non existant. No lag coming out of "idle" either, cursor moves the instant you touch the mouse.
Battery life is very good. I get a week out of it, and thats when im using it all day long, for like 12 hours (or more). When it needs charging, you just pop it in the handy dock, and in a couple hours you're good to go.
Its very confortable. Took a bit to get used to, coming from the Intellimouse which felt like a brick, being all curvy, the Logitech felt smaller, Didn't take long to get comfortable with it, and its like part of my hand now.
The buttons are nicely placed, and with the uberOptions addon to the SetPoint software, you have unlimited control over what you want the buttons to do. I have them set to do different things depending on what program I'm running. I don't really use the thumb wheel all that much, but it does come in handy. The thumb buttons, which I use alot in Firefox for back and forward, and much better placed and more confortable than on my old mouse. I use the little Search button on top as a "middle button" for opening new tabs. Its just very comfortable, with all the buttons very usable and well placed. You would definitly want the uberOptions addon though, to be able to fully customize this awesome mouse.
Works great for gaming. The 800DPI is plenty for me. Its extremly precise compared to my old mouse in my opinion. It slides around very well, you don't even notice the added weight.
I also ordered a fUnc F30.R mousepad, and its the best mousepad I've ever had. Mouse slides around like a dream, with added preciseness, and its the perfect size (I have the 11x14 version). Can't reccommend this mousepad enough.
Only thing I can think of to improve this combo is maybe I might get some teflon skates to put on the gliders for added slickness, especially as the built in gliders wear.
Unless you're a hardcore gamer, the MX Revolution is the best mouse out there in my opinion, and no matter what mouse you have, the fUnc pad is a awesome pad.
