I have a power supply that came from a motherboard with blown caps. Is it still ok to use temporarily until i can get my hands on a new one? or is it possible to cause problems to the other board?

Thanks

Yes, as long as PSU supports your new MB (24 pin connector vs. the old style 20 pin connector) and your power draw is not changing.

In no way would I keep this long term solution.

Ya its the same, and I will prolly be only using it for about 1-2 months. just till i come across another one.
My main worry is i really dont want dirty power being transfered to the new board

It depends on the quality of the PSU itself. The fact that it was used with a damaged motherboard shouldn't matter, but whether or not it is a good PSU in the first place is an important thing to consider.

Yup, the blown caps most likely have nothing to do with the original power supply.

I wouldn't use the PSU if it's a low-end one of questionable quality. If it says 'Deer', or 'L&C' anywhere, make a run for it

I have put a lot of PSUs in my junk pile based purely on the brand and/or presence of for example Fuhjyyu capacitors (Antec!), even if the system they were in 'worked fine'. I'm not one to take chances with PSUs :)
