I've seen a couple of people mention returning monitors to Newegg and getting a different model as a replacement on this forum. Am I missing something? I thought Newegg had a return policy where for 30 days you could return your monitor for a replacement that is the exact same model?

Having just bought a Samsung 225BW from Newegg that I know is defective. The top is brighter than the bottom even with colors on the screen, not just black screen, really has me wondering if I even want a 225BW at all. It would be great if I could exchange it for a different model.

Newegg does allow for (within 30 day period) a return for refund. Then, you order what you want instead. I just ordered 2 Zalman passive dual heatpipe VGA coolers, but the heatpipes just happened to block the PCI-Express power connections on my Sapphire x1950pro's, despite the Zalman site, stating that they were compatible with all Radeon card (with 2 model exceptions). I returned for a refund, reason - incompatible. I will be refunded my purchase price, less shipping. I'll then order my Zalman dual heatpipe LED actively cooled VGA kits. Once you know, you Newegg. Those guys are great, and when you make the RMA request, the process is all automated, and an RMA number will be e-mailed to your corresponding e-mail address. To my knowledge, it doesn't even "go for review," they just issue one. Nice to order from such a reputable company, eh?

Hey sabregen, thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure if you're just not aware that Newegg has multiple return policies, or if you know something I don't.

Newegg's "Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy" that I've seen all the monitors they carry being marked as falling under, from http://www.newegg.com/CustomerService/ReturnPolicy.asp#3

* Return for refund within: non-refundable
* Return for replacement within: 30 days

This is our Detailed Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy. Products that state "This item is covered by Newegg.com's Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy", or items labeled as “Non-refundable” (or similar labeling) must be returned to Newegg.com within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. Products covered by this return policy may only be returned for a replacement of the same item.

Have you ever successfully returned a monitor to Newegg marked to fall under this return policy?

Well then I stand corrected, and I will keep my big fat mouth shut. I was not aware that LCDs fall under a different return policy. Good info for the future, I suppose. Could come in handy when I replace my LVM-37w3. Man, do I feel dumb!

In this case then, return for replacement (because it's broken), then sell NIB unopened one that comes back on the FS thread. Use the $ to get the one that you really want. Kind of a long drawn out process, I know, but that'd be my move. Shutting mouth now.

Thanks for your help sabregen, I'm shure you were just poking fun with the dumb thing because your reply was not dumb at all.
As you can see a reply like yours get's more replys going and we all get the info.we need in the end.
It's thinking you might have info. that can help and not posting it for fear of it not being 100% right, now that is dumb. All input helps.
So Thank's again for your reply sabregen,it helped, Take care....
