I'm looking at buying a new monitor in the near future and I'm trying to find the best place to buy it from. I was thinking of buying it locally at first because its easier to return if I have a problem. However the monitor I'm looking at is now much cheaper at amazon than i can get it locally. So my question is does anyway know what the return policy for monitors is at amazon? I looked all over and could not find anything specific. Also if Amazon doesn't have a very good return policy on monitors what places to have good ones? I pretty much only have one choice to buy locally and that it Best Buy which probably will never have as good a price as amazon or somewhere else.

Although I never returned a monitor to Amazon, to the best of my knowledge they will take it back and cover return shipping. I'm not certain if you need to say if there is a reason for the return, other than you don't like it. But seeing as most monitors seem to have one problem or another, it's not that difficult to find some defect.

I think buy.com supposedly has a good return policy too.

I'd avoid newegg, as they have a restocking fee, I think, unless the thing is completely busted.

Call them or, more accurately, have them call you. They have a neat little phone contact system where after filling out some info here they call you and you can ask about any details that interest you from there.

I'm not familiar with their return policies regarding displays, but, I've had nothing but excellent customer service from them when I've needed to make returns in the past.

You can return anything to Amazon within 30 days. If you are just dissatisfied with it, but its not defective, you'll have to pay return shipping. They've always refunded all my money though - no restocking fee. If its defective (stuck pixels or whatever) they'll pay return shipping as well.

In my experience, although it wasn't with a monitor, Amazon will make you pay return shipping unless the monitor is broken in half or something. That being said, I would doubt you would run into too many issues ordering from Amazon. I think it's worth buying from them.

Make sure it is sold/fulfilled by Amazon. If by a third party merchant, on Amazon, you have to go by that company's policy.

I have never bought on Buy.com but if the item is marked with the 45-day or 30-day return you can return it, and I think Buy.com pays return shipping although terms are vague with only a video stating in most cases return shipping is paid by Buy.com.

Dell is only good if your monitor is defective. If you simply dislike it and want to return, there is a restocking fee. If an IPS, you can almost always find some bleed or glow problem though, if you are picky enough.

And good point by crake8... if a 3rd party, it won't be the same return guarantee that amazon offers. 3rd party is about the same as an eBay reseller sometimes, so returns can be iffy.

And as others have mentioned, if unsure just ask amazon/buy/whomever what their policy is. Amazon has a nice chat function for help... you can get an answer pretty quickly, and their answer will be recorded in your log.

My main concern is have a dead or stuck pixels and it sounds like with amazon I can return it if that is the case. Also the monitor I am looking at is sold by Amazon and not a third party so I'm safe there.

The monitor I have been looking at is the Asus VE278Q and from what ive seen the lowest it has been is $280 on both Amazon and Newegg. I have heard from a lot of people to avoid buying displays from Newegg because their return policy is not very good. I think after seeing what everyone has posted here it looks like Amazon is the best place to buy for me. Sadly the Asus VE278Q is back to its normal price so I guess I will have to wait for it to go on sale again.

Thanks to everyone who posted it was very helpful to me.
