Hi there. I'm intensely curious to know how one could retrofit lights into the keyboards of notebooks that come unequipped with such luxuries. I highly doubt there are any plug and play solutions on the market, but there has to be some of you out there that have attempted this idea.

One idea I have, albeit not very well thought out, is the use of UV sensitive material but I would still need some light source to activitate it.

Any ideas?

well the advantage of the UV light is you can fit it in where you have room, and use the paint elsewhere. as opposed to being forced to place LEDs where they wont fit. anyway you are probably going to need to use SMT LEDs.

Are you talking about a light to see the keyboard when it's dark, or status lights, like Caps Lock, Num Lock and HD access lights?

I was thinking about this too, but I'm running into an issue with power. but this is what I found: http://www.elwirecheap.com/elwirebyfoot.html . I think it might work running it under the keyboard but then again you might run into some of your keys not pressing down all the way.
