This is a screenshot a dev posted to Voodoo Extreme that I saved over 21 years ago :D Even back then DNF was a joke :D
Anyone know who the dev would be? Cant remember :(

Sorry, no idea. Though it did prompt me to check out Voodoo Extreme on archive.org and after randomly chosing a particular date in 2001 I stumbled upon a Tim Sweeney interview which touched on HDR, fifteen years before we'd see it.

The interviewer asks about whether HDR (not the term used but the intent) in monitors would be possible 'next gen', as they were always bothered how 'bright' things in games weren't physically bright but rather just colors on-screen. Sweeney didn't expect it to happen any time soon but interestingly foresaw LED display tech as having the potential.

Although by 2000 DNF was on its 3rd engine change.

Still, an interesting peek into what was going on during development hell.
