I've never built an HPTC, so I'm laying it out here on what I've figured to build for my system.

Case w/ remote deal:

CPU:

Memory:

Total: 343.95 or thereabouts.

Now I'm open to criticism over what I picked out for my build, kill me if you have to. If what I've proposed is a bit overkill, I can modify my selection. I've been using the X-Box 360, but it's so damn slow streaming 720p movies off my machine in my room. So I'd like a dedicated HPTC in order to play any of those things. I'll be using Windows 7 Home 32-bit for the OS. I normally use XBMC or TheKMPlayer on my main machine since I use subtitles. But as for MPC-HC, I don't really use it because it's limited in the sense of "syncing" subs and what not.

Thanks.

Either one will work fine..and they are both near silent but he can save a few dollars and go with the 400 watt. I've used all models of Corsair Power Supplies up to 850Watts. IMHO they are phenomonal, not a single failure with any builds i've done with these.

Good to know.

I agree, go with the cheaper one then. I would also agree about Corsair. My main system and HTPC both have a Corsair PSUs and they are great and they aren't too expensive. Very reliable and very stable voltage output.
