Resume from Sleep

Here is a question that I can only believe is a PSU issue:

I have a W7 Ultimate install. The default Power Button action is "Sleep". This worked fine when I had a Corsair HX620 Power Supply. The computer resumed from sleep as normal.

Recently, I swapped my whole computer into a new case. The ONLY thing that changed hardware-wise internally was the Power Supply. I installed a SeaSonic X750. Now, the computer powers down just fine, but when I resume from sleep, it acts like it is starting to come out of sleep, but then just powers off. If I push the power button, the Motherboard acts like it has been powered off (goes through BIOS POST), except when it loads windows, it resumes the sleeping session. It doesn't go through any "This install has been powered off improperly...please run checkdisk" or anything like that. It resumes perfectly with no errors.

It really doesn't bother me much, except for the extra step, and slightly longer time to bring the machine up. I'm just curious as to why it might be happening. Does anybody have any clues?

Can't you try the other powersupply in the new case to rule that out?

Although I have some doubt that this is caused by the power supply or case. To me this is a most likely a driver problem.

Power Supplies don't have drivers. The Corsair is being used in another case already, but I can swap it out if I really need to.

The rules of troubleshooting require that the last change be undone. I also do not suspect the power supply, but please give it a shot. Also, check on what the last software or driver updates were, roll back to previous if you can or use a system restore point; it is uncommon but I have heard of video card drivers being the cause of sleep not functioning properly.

This gives me some thought. Shortly before I did the case/psu swapout, I installed a new 6950 in the machine to replace a 4890 I had. I didn't update the driver. I never had an issue before the case/psu switch (meaning sleep still functioned properly) so I never bothered to update the video driver. I think I shall try that first, and if that doesn't work, then I'll do the PSU. Thanks for the "lightbulb" triggered by your last comment.

drescherjm - Sorry for the snarky reply. Bad mood, and (what I deemed at the time) a very vague statement. Not your fault, I just didn't think of the video card specifically when you said "drivers". I'll wear my big-boy pants and leave my reply unedited to show how NOT to respond to a person trying to help.
