I have an 8600 GTS and when I resume from sleep on Vista, it always shows this message:

Problem Report

The NVIDIA System Sentinel is reporting that NVIDIA-powered graphics card is not receiving sufficient power.

To protect your hardware from potential damage or causing a potential system lockup, the graphics processor has lowered its performance to a level that allows continued safe operations.

This happens on two different motherboards. There is no additional power connector for this card.

Any suggestions?

have you tried different drivers? a while back there was a set of drivers that told me I was running SLI when I dont even have a capable motherboard.

Here is which version of the drivers I'm running

Forceware version 169.25
