Restoring Old Hard Drive Information?

Hello,

I recently installed the latest version of iTunes and it prompted me to sync my music files with the Library. When I did this, iTunes renamed my music and placed all of my songs in new folder subdirectories sorted by artist. This really annoyed me since it was never stated that iTunes was going to rename all of my music.

I tried using the Windows XP Disk Restore utility to rollback my information to an earlier date but that didn't work for my music files. It seems to only rollback registry files and the like.

Is there an application that is free and easy to use that will allow me to roll back my music file information so that they will appear in the same way they did before iTunes renamed them?

Thank you so much for any help!

Could anyone help me out at all? I am really kind of desperate to get my thousands of songs back in order.

Thanks!

Yeah, unless you had installed something beforehand you're pretty much out of luck. You could use Foobar2000 to rename the files to where you want them if they're all properly tagged, but there's no Time Machine-like functionality built into Windows.
