I have a comp with Windows XP Home on the primary partition installed just the way I like it, but the HDD has decided to start dying (secondary partition can be deleted). So I booted up in BartPE and imaged this partition. I have a new HDD and I now want to install Vista as the primary partition and keep XP as the secondary, is it possible to simply install Vista then restore the XP image on after it? I'm guessing I'll have some boot loader problems?
Also, what tools would I use to check the new HDD for bad sectors? Chkdsk /r? I read somewhere its possible to kind of "make a note" of the bad sectors so that the Operating System won't use them i.e. they're marked as bad and not used?
