Hey all. It has been a while but now I'm back to folding with my new SR-2 setup. I'm going to try to get it to 3.8GHz again for folding but we will see. I think having 24GB ram hurts my chances a touch.

I'm using the vmware images for 3 vm's that have 8 threads a piece running with the -bigadv switch.

Scrap the vm's, you won't get any more bigs thru them. Run one bigadv windows client with 24 cores, at 3.8 you should be around 70k+ I think, much more forgiving on the OC's as well, and you'll not even use 2gb full blast on the ram

welcome back and welcome to club SR2, glad to have a third person :)

Hey it's good the be a part of the club. Got mine on the first day they sold them, and I'm loving the board.

Any links to how to do 24 cores in windows. I'll continue to google, but figured I'd ask.

Thanks!

Setup the standard windows smp (we have a guide stickies) but instead of -advmethods use -bigadv

Got it setup, but it looks like there are no bigadv units to do right now for the windows client. Got:

Code:
[03:18:44] Loaded queue successfully.
[03:18:45] + Could not connect to Work Server
[03:18:45] - Attempt #7 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

I should also mention that I can connect to the IP's in my web browser with no issues.

hmm, must be having a temporary shortage, Stanford is blazing thru bigadv units, im assuming trying to find the linux bug, im assuming we can thank them. Best advice is to just wait a few and restart the client.

I'm kinda sad, today is the last day I'll have the fastest bigadv rig on the entire team :(
o well, at least its all in the family

If you still can't find work, you could just run the regular A3 work units for now and use this time to fine tune your overclocks. Welcome and can't wait to see what your beauty is going to do. Are you running a case?

Yeah but you still are cranking out massive PPD's. I don't think I'll ever be able to match that with what I have.

What's the total PPD your SR-2 is doing. My hex core running -bigadv with 2x GTX480s is getting 62K PPD total output.

43k at 3.5 Ghz, no gpu's tho, 27 min TPF

hoping to hit 3.8 ghz, 48k ish

Welcome back!! With dual hex-cores, that should easily land you a comfortable spot on the Top 20 if not Top 10 in short order, WU availability permitting. Awesome, we need all the big guns we can get!

Its getting crowded up here lol, just managed to take 12th, 6k from top 10

the harder the fight the better the team fares, so i invite you to make a run for it!

Hey I'm all about keeping the [H] at the top spot. After being here almost 6 years it's been the best internet computer community I've been involved in.

Just saw your post. Yes I'm running a LianLi-P80 or whatever it's called. I think I'll start right now making my way back to 3.8GHz.

Actually, it would be best if you did the SMP2 A3 units. You probably don't have the requisite 10 A3 units yet to get the bonus :D [note: be sure to get a passkey and enter that in your SMP configuration to ensure that the 10 units you do do are credited to you]

On an SR-2 w/2 x 5650's, that should take you about a day or two :D :D

You can use that time to work out your OC and then go to a single SMP2 Big Adv utilizing all 24 cores.

That's the spirit! Forget the push mower, get the John Deere Farm Tractor out!

Finally, someone who is running their SR2 in a case! You must show us pics once you have a chance to get some! Everyone else is running their SR2's naked and I keep telling them that it is so wrong as it deserves a case to keep it proper.

That is right! If you havn't done the 10 SMP work units yet with a passkey, maked sure that you do so as otherwise you won't get a bonus.

I've got her running at 4GHz at the moment on air. It's running a little hot, and frybench is running slower than at 3.81. But I've finally lowered my ram speed and tweaked my uncore so I could get here. We will see. I think I have a post somewhere of pics here. I'll go try to dig it up.

Yeah I've got my passkey setup as well as my name and the team name. Hopefully once this unit is done I'll be able to get some work with -bigadv

Yeah ventilation is an issue, there is a fan on top and one in back and 3 in the front. All are 140mm. I think the thing that keeps this system alive is the 11,000 BTU portable A/C unit I have running. The room averages about 74 degrees when it's 95 out. In the 80's its about 69.

Dude, drop a couple of GTX480s in that bad boy for some NV surround lovin'. I'm about to drop some cash for 3 LCDs to put my 480s to good use.
