I don't know where else to put this topic. So anyways, I want to get a LCD monitor, but it's response time is 25ms? Is that good for gaming? Does it really help much to get 16ms instead? Anybody know from experience? Thanks.
 
The general rule of thumb is that for games, you'll want under 16ms. 25ms will be tough, but some do it. I have an L90D+ which is 8ms and I wouldn't want any higher.

For reference, there's a "Display" section of the forum that this would go into.

 
Id recommend something below 16ms for gaming.

1000/response time = refreshes/sec

Also you might want to research how these times are derived, they have room for creative interpretation.

If I were you I would buy a big monster 22" 20k+ resolution monster crt instead of a lcd with its native resolution and poor response times.
 
I don't really consider Acer to be a decent brand to get a LCD monitor that will peform adequetly in games. You'll want a monitor thats no slower then 16ms, otherwise you will suffer to much ghosting and bluring as a result. 8ms is better but keep in mind that many LCD manufactuers *lie* about the actually speed of their response rates depending on wether its Gray to gray or black to white crystal transfer rates.

Keep in mind that ghosting and blurring is a VERY PERSONAL perspective. What one monitor will look great to one person, another will shoo it away and prefer CRT's till death do them part. Keep wary of people who are the "OMGZZZ...LCDS are uber sloowzz! CRT"s are the fvcking loo@@atness!" They typically won't do you any good.

That being said, head to the display section and go through the posts, you will find ALL the info you could possibly want.

For cheap yet good gaming, the L90D+ is a sure bet. It sacrifices some color quality for speed, but its excellent for gaming. I liked mine, but my Dell 2405 retired it.

Don't go cheap on an LCD, you'll only regret it later on.
