Edit: Decided on the Super Mega/FT02/Sandy Bridge build this year, Cosmos II/Custom Water/Ivy Bridge conversion next year.

Also, please tell me if it matters which orientation the Corsair Hydro CPU Coolers are mounted at. For example, does it matter circulation wise if the rad is above or below the pump?

Thanks for any help in advance.

BTW, that D-14 looks so badass, I almost considered a Silver Arrow myself, but in the end I liked the relative slimness/mounting system/build qualities of the Super Mega more. It would be nice if there was a Super Mega Shadow...

All I need now for my FT02 build is an Intel 510 250GB SSD and a graphics card. Seems down to the EVGA 570 Classified and the EVGA 580 Classified.

Anyone tried running Zalman VF-3000F in FT-2 ?

Ordered my EVGA 580 Classified 3GB card from EVGA direct! That's the best external exhaust I've ever seen, nicely oversized for silence, and is better for the FT02's airflow according to Silverstone at least.

Now I can build my FT02, the SSD will have to wait for this fall when Intel rolls out Cherryville.

Only catch is that my card does not have hdmi, but that's what dvi to hdmi cables are for. Sound is via HD Titanium sound card to Corsair SP2500 speakers anyway.

Guess I'll stick with SylarPowers after all, NeoDiNardo didn't take, plus with SylarPowers I have the time in like.

Silverstone offered to replace my damaged PSU Filter, how nice! :)

After selling my FT02 PC Build a bit ago, I noted that the TJ11 is out... I'm getting an itch to build again :)

Yes its expensive, but logic rarely works on me. The TJ11 looks too dam awesome! I also saw that the CM Cosmos II is coming soon. I think more Corsair stuff is afoot... Finally, new cases I care about!

But I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge for the core parts.

I noted a double rad Corsair all in one water CPU Cooler came out, could I run that with 4 fans in push pull on the TJ11? Space wise? More important, would the performance beat a Prolimatech Super Mega CPU Cooler in push pull?

Hi Sy,

I see that you're getting that "itch" just like I did. I actually was able to get a hold of the TJ11 (it was their ONLY sample touring case and their were parts missing; which are now on order). If you decide that you want one, hit me up (I'll talk to Joel @ Silverstone) and see when they'll be coming in. I'll get you a decent price on one if you live here in the states. I actually have a custom build that I'm doing here:

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1037766128#post1037766128

I know that newegg is selling theirs for $659.00 which is surprising because they usually beat me in my pricing because they obviously buy in bulk and I can't because I am too small of a company to hold any stock; plus I do personal custom builds on the side. It amazing that they have that price so high, but I guess that they realize not to many other online businesses have them in stock so they're taking advantage of that, and they know that. But like I said before, if you're really looking to get that case, PM me and we can exchange contact info with each other and I'll see when the next shipment is coming in if you're serious about wanting to get this… Later… PNugg ;)

since I decided to go all air cooling, I'm not sure what I would do with the tj 11 anymore. however from what I've read it is sandblasted anodized aluminum inside and out, correct? should make for a nicer case, but I spent too much on that gtx 580 classified 3gb from evga, so I am tapped out for the foreseeable future. plus I have to get that limited edition r 2 d 2 360 console, damn thing makes r 2 d 2 sounds when you power on & open the disc! then there is the intel cherryville ssds coming out soon, birthdays and christmas, so yeah I think I'll pass on that!

Plus I now like the filter system on the f t 02 over the tj 11, and the size of a tj 11 is a bit much in retrospect.

what I really would want is a super deluxe ft 02 made to a more deluxe standard with premium paint. I'll take a red one of those :)

or even bring back the red limited edition even though the paint chiped off on my sample.

so yeah I'd rather spend the money to custom paint my ft 02 with automotive paint.

This is my first build and all new to me.
But I have 2 x gigabyte GTX 580 Ultra Durable 3GB for SLI, and I have heard good reviews and really like the look of the FT02..but I have read that certain cards have cooling designs that are no good for the FT02...and the gigabyte 580 is one of those cards as it exhausts hot air into case

Just wondering has anyone one here ever tried to SLI overclocked Gigabyte gtx580 in this case?
and if so did it work ok?

If enough people convince me that my cards wont work too well in FT02..my other option that Im looking at is the HAF X, any suggestions

Thanks in advance

I have two MSI Twin Frozr III HD 6950s in my FT02, which also vent heat into the case, and while it's not exactly beneficial, I haven't noticed anything to worry about, just a slight bump in ambient temps.

@ NeoDiNardo,

Thanks for your advice. I have the opportunity to purchase the MSI GTX580 Lightning XE, but it seems that length wise it's a tight fit in the FT02. My case is a later one with the AP181 fans and the GPU clearance is stated as being as 12.2".

The MSI Lightning XE is 305 mm long - a tight fit indeed. Do any FT02 owners have this card?

Anyone with a 6990 that can give me an idea on noise and temps in the FT02.
Good idea to install a 6990 in this case?

I would really like a response from someone who has this setup.

People who have this setup, will this case be able to handle 2x ASUS ROG Matrix 580's? If so, how good would the cooling be?

Hey guys, first off... this is the greatest thread I have ever read. It really is 143 pages of epicness.

Second, I'm very close to buying the FT02 but the only thing I'm concerned about is the GPU cooling. This is my card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150527

And I've been trying to figure out how the heat is dispersed on this particular model--I think the heat is going out from the front and back of the card? Not too sure though... Is the heatsink on my GPU similar to the one used on the Frozr editions? I know this question has been asked before but I'm just trying to answer the question specifically for my model video card :)

Thanks!

Just received my FT02 from Amazon. Mine included the updated front panel ports with USB 3.0

Ohay guys. My first post, so go easy on me. ;-)

I just ordered one of these from Newegg. Should arrive Tuesday. I'd been looking for something sophisticated looking and quiet that will still sufficiently cool my 2 non-reference GTS250's. Was going to go with the Fractal Design R3 in white, despite doubts that it would remain quiet with all the fan slots opened and filled. Suddenly though, they were out of stock everywhere, so I happened across some FT02 reviews, and this thread, and well... Consider me sold.

To the question that had me make an account here though:

I'm going to be putting 4 hdd's in this case. 2x 7200rpm 1gb Seagate Barracuda (raid1 array for system stuff), and 2x 5400rpm 2gb Western Digital Caviar Green (raid1 array for data).

What do you think would be the best layout in the caddies to ensure adequate cooling?

I was thinking take the caddy out of the middle slot, have the Barracudas flanking the empty hole (seeing as they run hot), and then put the Caviars either side in the outermost slots. What do you reckon?

Could anyone running 4 drives share what has worked best for them?

Thanks!

I leave mine open also. I only have one HDD but I leave the extra HDD caddies out.
It definitely helps temps. Just leave the slot next to the hottest HDDs open or between them.

Thanks for the reply dude.

I'm really interested to hear from anyone who has had 4 drives installed in those bays though. Did you manage to achieve decent cooling? Which arrangement worked best?

For the people who own this case. Do I just orient my coolermaster hyper 212+ upwards? Do I need to ramp up the fan speed or anything to match the ft02's fans?

Yes, you will have to mount your heat sink to match the orientation of the air penetrators. I don't think you will have to use a specific speed on the 212+. I have used a variety of fans (before going water). Just use whichever speed you feel like.

Sweet, thanks for the info!

For everyone planning watercool in this case, interesting radiator:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1..._180mm_x_35mm_Slim_Radiator_MC-RADI180X3.html

fits perfectly, works with stock 180mm case fans, and is also slim enough not to be a problem used with long graphic cards

How does that "fit perfectly" in the FT02 without removing the hard drive cages or pushing it out towards the window side of the case? The 180mm fans are recessed into the mobo tray a bit.

Of course i meant if you remove hdd mounts from the case (that is what all people do if they install high end water cooling system in this case, with 4x140 radiators). Perfect fit means it has good length + uses standard case fans.

Not necessarily. There are people that have 360-600mm worth of radiator in an FT02 that haven't taken out the drive cages. My friend is one of them. That also doesn't address the fact that the fans are recessed into the mobo tray and there isnt enough room to put the radiator on top of them without hitting the mobo tray.

I guess it could be a "perfect fit" IF you cut out the HDD cage AND remove the fan mounting brackets with filters, although even then you may run into height issues.

You just cant fit a 180mm rad in there, since as it was mentioned earlier the fans are recessed into the mobo tray, fitting such a rad would require serious hacking into the tray.

No Macgyver skills required. Looks like they removed the fan filter housings to lower the rad. A 3x180 in a FT02 would be sick. I may try it next year.

Looks like that's in a RV02, not an FT02, though I doubt it would be much different.

They use the same internal structure. Only difference is the HDD bay and extra PCI slot, which doesn't affect the motherboard tray.
The RV02 HDD bay has to be cut to fit a 3x180, whereas the FT02 only has a few rivets that can be easily drilled out.
