What CPU are you running and what temps are you getting? My setup looks very similar to yours, and I'm very curious how well those AP fans perform.

At stock clocks my i7 920 cooled by a VenX + dual GT1450s, stock golf exhaust fan, and old FN181's on "low" idles at 28.5C with ambient at 19.7C.

Would love to know how the old fans compare to the new ones. Anyone know anything???

I didn't know they where ofically.

The fans should be in the US near the end of the month. I'd expect a release mid June. RV02-E I'm guessing won't be available till August.

The new fans and FT/RV03 case will be out around the end of the month, per this email to me from Joel:

"Hi Rich
,
This fan will be posted on our website soon and you'll be able to see allthe specs I had requested to my webmaster to post this ASAP
BTW the case will be available in USA by the end of this month

Thank you

I recieved this email the day after (I ordered on Monday) I ordered my RV02...figures!

Well I guess your information is newer than mine. I spoke with Tony 5 days ago and he told me it'd probably be at least 2mo before the RV02-E was released since they didn't have a formal release date for it yet. He did say the AP fans would be at their USA office at the end of the month so I figured that meant the distributors/resellers would have them by middle of next month.

Man, now I'm so tempted by that RED FT02!!!

why? after seeing the pics, it looks better with the black interior. The red interior looks like the kind of red you see on cheap ford trucks and makes ugly cables more obvious. Plus you put your ft02 on the floor...lol

^^^lol, I'm not tempted with any of these cases this year. So many overpriced models from Lian Li and ugly concepts from Cooler Master.
I hope Silverstone did their homework on the TJ11. That's probably the only case I would switch my FT02 for this year.

ya looks like you can see the red from the seems too at certain angles from the pics I've seen .. that would bug the crap outa me.

I like it - but that's just me.

As for case on the floor - that is not by choice . . . it's because I don't have a DVI cable long enough to reach the third 3008wfp if I put the case on its customary spot on the desk. I should get off my lazy ass and get a 10-12ft DVI cable b/c with the case in that position under my Galant desk, the hot air blows up on my face all day long and it gets pretty annoying.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the red either. I feel like it doesn't match the FT02 very well.

Purple on the other hand... =P

The red is actually kinda cheap - scratches and peels off easily. If anyone has a PCP&C 750w Silencer PSU, the paint job is exactly like it - key it and tada, ugliness!

My preference was silver; the red was not by choice :(

That was precisely my fear and the main reason I haven't already purchased this case in red. An anodized aluminum red interior a la the Lian Li whatchamacallit would have been awesome.

You mean the P50R. Nothing can beat the interior of that case. It a deep rich red that shines.

On the topic of the H50, I think performance of it shouldn't suffer even as an exhaust - the 2 fans at the bottom push air up without much obstruction (the biggest one would be the ram...), and from what's been already going around, the new fans would be blowing "fresh" air straight to the H50 thx to its design.

Now I'm thinking of replacing my Veno X with a H50..........

I've been considering going watercooling and getting two "stackable" 120.1 swiftech rads and mounting them where the exhaust fan is, but i'm not sure it's really worth it. It'll cost over $250 and despite the fact I'd be able to overclock my 930 more and be happy with the temps, I'd likely notice no changes in speed in my day to day computer usage. It'd have really only been for looks.

Maybe I'll consider it with the x900 or the future TJ11 where I could fit a triple rad + two single rads for cooling the CPU + my 480s. But i'd only consider the TJ11 if it was fully aluminum then as the weight would be too much if it contained steel combined with the radiators I'd mount inside. I'm gonna wait to see the tj11 before anything. But i've pretty much decided I will be either switching from the FT02 to the x900 or the new tj11.

The x900 only fits 12" long video cards, that's why I'm going to pass on it. When factoring in a 2" thick rad, you will limited to 10" for your graphics PCB.

really? did not know that. Looks like I'm gonna have to pass on it completely and wait to see the tj11.

Yep!

305mm = 12 inches

At least the FT02 can fit 12.2" video cards like the 5970. Silverstone also changed the grills on the new AP121 fans which will allow even more room for the 5970. I already have a case (FT02) that can't fit a thick radiator so I don't need a more expensive case that's smaller.

Well, it's my first build so I thought I would throw a few pics in here guys. I am going to be doing some cable sleeving soon so things should look a bit sharper in a week or so. I only do gaming with this comp and I really love the case!

Could I buy the new 180MM Silverstone Penetrator fans and install them in my FT02? Would I be able to hook them up to the Hi-Lo switch and control them that way still?

Would it be worth it?

Yes. I believe they come with their own switch to mount in the same position as the old switch anyway. Are they worth it? No one really knows yet.

Anyway, I'm moving to watercooling in my FT02. Will probably be fully transitioned to it n 2-3 weeks. WIll post pics when I do it. I already bought the rad.

Come with their own switch? I thought there was only 1 switch in the FT02 and all three fans connected to it?

Oh cool, thanks for the clarification :)

How long till people start posting some results with the new fans? Omerta do you really think the new ones will make that big a difference?

What Rad did you end up going with? And are you removing the hd bays?

I hope in the next revision of this case Silverstone improves the hard drive cages and 5.25" locking devices. The rest of the case is almost perfect but those two things are incredibly low quality. Even the Cooler Master ATCS 840 has better quality tooless devices than in the FT02. Those buttons to hold the optical drives flip from locked to unlocked with no force whatsoever and the 3.5" cages practically fall out of the case even when in a locked position. The vibration mounts for the HDDs aren't as good as the ones for the ATCS 840 either. I would even like to see the power and reset buttons and the power and HDD LEDs upgraded to something higher quality as well.

I just received mine yesterday from TigerDirect and the cooling and layout of the case looks to be top notch but Silverstone really needs to get the quality of some of the parts up to snuff compared to Lian Li and Cooler Master considering the price of this case.

Up to par with coolermaster? I can understand if you said Lian Li, but coolermaster? Coolermaster is the shittiest company ever. The HDD system coolermaster uses is NO better than the one silverstone uses. As far as the tool-les shit, tool-less sucks n any case, so use your own screws. But I do agree that the HDD mounting needs to be improved.

The power/reset buttons are FINE. They don't feel cheap at all. And what do you mean the HDD leds need to be upgraded? Do you want something that will blind you? They're fine.

The only thing I'd change about the LEDs is that they don't blink when you put the comp into sleep mode...

I have an ATCS 840 sitting right next to the FT02 and the tool-less parts in the Cooler Master are at least good enough quality that they work the way they should and actually feel like they're holding the devices in place. The FT02's are complete crap.

Those big black buttons that are suppose to lock the optical drives on the FT02 seem to just flip up and down freely from locked to unlocked when you barely even touch them and the plastic clip that locks down to keep the hard drive tray in the bay doesn't even snap tight enough into place to secure the tray. If you titled the case forward and shook it a little the drives would likely fall right out in the floor because I couldn't even route the cables through the back of the case without them bumping into the empty HDD trays and shoving them out the side of the case. On the ATCS 840 the door on the trays clips tightly to the HDD cage where's no way the tray is going to slide out. So yes the Cooler Master ATCS 840's tool-less devices may not be the best but they're without question better than the FT02's.

And as far as the power/reset buttons go I guess I just prefer the quality plunger type switches and the small round PWR/HDD LED's like on the ATCS 840 and Lian Li cases.

What Omerta is saying is that yes the ATCS 840 is a great case, but the quality of it is much higher than the majority of coolermaster cases. It's like saying how amazing of a company GM is all around because you only took a look at a Cadillac.

I understand that but my point was that the Cooler Master ATCS 840 costs less than the FT02 but has better quality parts. If Silverstone is going to charge a premium price for the FT02 they need to make it feel more like a premium case.
