Agreed about stores carrying it. I bought the FT02-B without the window, because I plan to do a window mod, but it looks so beautiful, I almost reconsidered. Almost.

I was just quoted $125 to water cut a square into my side panel for a window.

I think the guy has a fever and needless to say I didn't respond to his email.

I know what you mean. I have a fairly easy design but certainly more complicated than that and I was quoted $100. I laughed, was then quoted $80. I explained I was a student and he said he could go lower but didn't give an exact amount.

Any idea how machining looks, because an engineering lab will do it for free?

Oh Wow!! amazing, received mine early this morning, and I now completely agree with everybody else with the FT02, it looks 100x more amazing in person, it is a thing of perfection.

i agree, ive had this case since december now and it still impresses me

you sold your 800d for a ft02?

Not really. My friend wanted one but didn't have the cash at the time.
So I bought one for myself. When I received it, I called him to show off. Magically the next day he offered to give me what I paid for it. At the same time, a forum member was selling their FT02 for a very good price. I saved a good amount of money swapping the cases. Besides, the 800D was huge and he had a WC loop which I don't.

Got my replacement FT02 window acrylic yesterday (finally), haven't had a chance to open it yet because I've been working on other stuff (new car ;)). Should be able to swap windows this weekend, I'll post pics when I do. :)

Some companies go above and beyond. Cooler Master will send whatever you want. I had them replace three parts in one RMA.

Yeah, I just requested the acrylic/plexi window itself, I didn't ask for the whole side panel.
The box is quite large though, either it's packed and padded obnoxiously too much or they sent the whole side panel+window. :D

I'll check it later after I get home and post a follow-up. ;)

edit Just the acrylic window, holes predrilled (thank God). No side panel or anything...sorry WE.

Zero, what all did you tell them and did you have to provide Proof of Purchase?
I just picked one up from here that's why I ask.

I emailed SS a few days ago about shipping me a windowed panel, the cost was around $40 and $30 for shipping. I bought the case second hand so I didn't request an RMA, I wonder if you had to provide Proof of purchase also. I should be able to find someone to cut my solid panel for cheap tomorrow.

Score one for Silverstone (and you, too)! Good to hear about a mfg coming through to take care of their customers since so much of the forum chatter seems to indicate that the case makers just don't give a fuck about their customers. Hopefully SIlverstone continues this pattern. I'd rather give my money to a company that won't hang me out to dry after getting my money.

Was wondering if anyone else with the ft02 notice oil spewing from the included golf blade fan?? Was tooling around inside my case and noticed a buildup of a mineral oil type material around the inside frame of the fan. I see no other possible source of this oil besides it being leaked by the fan itself and being thrown my the blades onto the inside frame of the fan. I sent an email to silverstone support just now, and asked them if this is a widespread issue with that fan in the horizontal position or is my fan just defective. I mean with the amount of oil I wiped up this can't bode well for the longevity of the fan. So did ne one else notice this issue?

Also I wanted to mention some mods on the ft02 I did with crap I had lying around the house.

The first mod I did was add a a 120mm fan I had from a previous build to the top of the hdd bay. I used some adhesive velcro to attach it to the top of the hdd bay, but some good double sided foam tape would also work good. In this push-pull orientation I saw about a 1-2 degree C drop on my 300g raptor and my 1.5tb seagate drive. Not the biggest difference, but using stuff I had lying around not bad imo..

My second mod came to mind when I saw a roll of this in my garage. Basically, I took the foam tape and lined the thin 5 1/4" bay panels with the stuff. It seems to have made my pc a bit quieter, but it really helped dampen the noise coming from my optical drive spooling up. Plus as a bonus, when I tap on the bay panels now I get a satisfying thud.

Anyone know the specs of the top 120mm exhaust fan?

Edit: 1200RPM, 19dBA and if it's anything like their other 12cm fans I'm guessing it moves around 50CFM.

To those who have non reference Video Cards:

How does this case handle Video Cards exhausting air into the case? I've been looking for a good reference 5850 but they are getting more and more scarce to find. I think the best cooling would be a reference that has a fan on the front of the card pulling air directly from a 180mm then exhausting all the hot air out the back.

I'm using a corsair h50 so I don't have any other fans messing with the airflow in the case.

Seems to handle it fine. That hot air is going to rise, anyway, and the two front 180mm fans help speed the process along. If I put my hand over the PCI slot covers I feel a lot of warm air being exhausted.

When I had a temperature probe at the front of the case (GPU/5.25" bay area) temp readings from that probe seemed to sit around 32-34C -- that was with 2x5750s (vapor-x). If I turned up the case fans to high then I could get temps down to 29C.

My CPU idles at 37C @ 4 GHz (Q6600 was 43C at 3.6 GHz) without power-saving features enabled, so the heat sink doesn't seem to be suffering from excessive heat buildup in the case, either.

For anyone that was looking for it, Sundial Micro now has the SILVER windowed version in stock:

Heh, I saw that 2-3 days ago and was soooo tempted since that's the case I was planning on buying back in Nov when I first was tipped of to the ft02.

I've been unable to find a case that quite gives me what I want w/ the closest being the Lian Li pc-x2000 which is mostly great, but still has it's own flaws, too. The yet-to-be-released Lian Li pc-x2000F fixes many of these flaws (and introduces others of it's own like what I suspect will be a non-removable mobo) and for the most part looks to be almost exactly what I want, but it'll probably cost ~$600. Still, my lady gave me the go ahead to buy it when it releases if that's what I want and the flaws that I think it has won't matter to me whereas others might hate them. But for $600, or even the cost of the $399+tax/sh x2000, I could instead buy a spiffy ft02 for use with only 3x hdds and 1x sdd and use the money saved to buy a lian li 5 disk eSATA enclosure. Yeah... might just have to bite and finally buy an ft02. Only other option I like costs a lot more and doesn't give me the flexibility of an external enclosure.

I really want to buy this case, the only thing holding me back is getting watercooling to work with it. I did some PTC assembly, the measurements is off by a couple of millimeters it is mostly correct.

The reason I put in two radiators is I want to see if I could do a little mod to the case and put the radiator on the front right side and put meshes on the right panel. If I had the tools I would love to make a knockoff with more height

The FT02 can fit up to a 4x140 radiator at the bottom, more than enough for any setup.

I will post measurements at a later date.

thanks. Iooking at the pics and my models of it, it doesn't look like it can support 4*140. Though I only use 3*120 which it can definetly accomadate. The most important part is whether I can fit the video cards in afterwards. I plan to put in 9800gtx which I believe is 10.5". however future GFX are going to be longer than that

With my measurements you can fit a 5970 with a 3x140 or 4x140. If you remove the three bottom fans you will see the potential.
You can fit a triple rad on top of the 180s with a 10.5 card installed.

I'll post pictures and measurements later today.

I just picked one up from here that's why I ask.

I emailed SS support (link on their website), told them my window had scuff marks on the bottom portion of it, can I get a replacement window (just window, not the whole panel). About 2 days later I got a reply, "sure thing no problem", along with a .doc RMA form attachment, requesting that be filled out, the serial # off the box, a (PDF) copy of my sales invoice (from Amazon), and a picture of the scuffs on the window. I sent all of that the following day, never heard anything back.

Finally 2 weeks ago I was in a ticked off mood, I sent a followup to the same email asking what was going on, I hadn't received the replacement window and had not heard anything.... a day later I got the email saying they'd ship it that Friday, then it came on...Wednesday?

I'm glad they finally sent it to me; I thought they had left me out to dry with it. Trying to clean the window only made it worse for me (the scuffs)....keep this in mind, fellow FT02 owners.... I would recommend nothing more than a microfiber cloth and water to clean the window. Absolutely positively don't use toilet paper, paper towels, newspaper....wash cloth, etc. I wouldn't use glass cleaner/Windex either. The acrylic they use is not scratch resistant at all, whatsoever. :(

Thanks for the replies World and Zero.

Anyone think a Scythe Kama Bay Plus on the three bottom 5.25's would be a good idea?

The FT02 has WC potential if you are willing to do some modifications. Here are a few measurements so you can get an idea of what can be done with the FT02.

Radiators:
Don't get a radiator thicker then 1.25". It will limited the length of your graphics if you go thicker. A 25mm thick fan is a little less than 1". You want to stay under 2.5" total, which includes the radiator and fan together. Here's a picture below.

http://i42.tinypic.com/mhaljs.jpg

The radiator can be up to 7" wide.

http://i43.tinypic.com/2s5y7wz.jpg

The radiator can also be up to 23.5" long or 4x120. A 4x140 radiator can also fit but modification will be involved, especially to fit the front 140mm fan since current 4x140mm radiators are 2.2 inches thick. If I or someone else can find a thinner 4x140mm radiator let me know.

http://i39.tinypic.com/k2z1i8.jpg

If you want to only install a 3x120 radiator and keep the front 180mm, it can be up to 15.5" long.
You will have to remove the front 180mm fan if you want to fit a 3x140 radiator.

http://i43.tinypic.com/v4xd88.jpg

Maintain these measurements and you can still fit 12" long graphics cards. The PCB of the 5970 is 11.5" so you will have more then enough room for smaller PCBs.

http://i44.tinypic.com/wss1z8.jpg

New mounting holes will have to be drilled at the bottom of the case. The filter assembly needs to be removed if you want to be able to install longer cards. The RV02 is a better case to mount a 3/4x140 radiator since the HDD cage can be moved upward allowing all 140mm fans to be installed. Also working around or removing the FT02 aluminum body looks like a PITA, but on the RV02 the bottom is easily accessible.

Thanks for the replies World and Zero.

Anyone think a Scythe Kama Bay Plus on the three bottom 5.25's would be a good idea?
the scythe kama bay won't work without a bit of modding. Tried using one I had from a old build but there are these tabs that jut out in the 5 1/4" bay that interfere with the kama bay. The mod would be simple involving only bending the small tabs in the case or cutting away small sections of the kama bay, but I didn't bother cuz I would probably get annoyed with the noise leaking out from it.

So I just upgraded from a CoolerMaster ATCS 840 to a Silverstone FT02B and I couldn't be happier. The CM ATCS 840 is a great case, it was just too large for my desk (which isn't small). I was concerned that my 5870's would make things difficult, but they fit with plenty of clearance. I was also able to route the power cables wires out of the way so air flow is not obstructed.

I didn't get the windowed version, it just ruins the the sleekness of the case for me.

thanks a lot. It shows that wc is workable. However I couldn't shake off the idea of perhaps drilling 2 holes on top near the 120mm fans and route the tubes out the back and into a separate wc box. This way all the heat recycling is processed outside the case.

The reservoir will be directly above the 655 pump, and the DC power and circuit will be beneath the pump. water flows from the reservoir -> pump -> closest radiator inlet -> cpu -> reservoir. Build a box around the whole thing

Or I could try both, one loop for cpu, one for gpu :D

Hey everyone I am new to the forums and I am really planning on buy either the RV02 or the FT02. I really need all you you that have bought those cases to help me make my decision plz. I have some question as to what type of setup I am going to be putting into it as I want to make sure everything will fit.

1. I have a EVGA Classified mobo and wanted to know if it will fit in both of those cases?

2. I am planing to put 2x GTX 480 in SLI one of the cards will go on the 2 slot and the other will go on the 6 slot on the cases and want to know if I will have any problems with the second card going on the 6 slot as its close to the hard drives and dvd rom drives ?

3.I have a brand new custom cooler express phase change system and I wanted to know if any of you are using a phase change cooler with this case or if any of you know if I can mount the evap+hose though the side window of the case without any problems ?

4. This is the most important question which of those 2 cases has the BEST cooling of the two ? As I need a case that will cool my 2x GTX 480 really really well as they get very hot.

thanks for the help

my ft02 just came in, and so i'm looking at how i'm going to fit the h50 in there...i was planning on mounting the radiator on the back-bottom fan (keeping the stock 180mms). the silverstone radiator brackets won't fit--so i'm thinking to make my own. i did a quick model of a 180-->120mm adapter.

4498080904_7020983d68_o.jpg

would anyone else be interested in this? i've yet to get quotes, but i'm sure if i could get the piece count up--they'd become a bit cheaper. any/all feedback is welcome.

I didn't actually set it up, but I lined up the 180's, brackets, rad, and my 120 GT AP-15's during install and it looked like it matched up fine. The brackets didn't fit in what respect?

Last edited:
perhaps i'm missing something, or over complicating it...is only one of the brackets intended to actually screw down to the 180mm fans? i guess then it would work.
