LOL - you guys can duke it out for the title. I've been in the RV02 for a few months now and will likely stick with it.
HA. Now I bought a Lian Li P50R. This case is unique so I'm going to keep it for a while.
The case is my favorite part of the build, so I may find myself swapping a lot.
Don't feel bad at all...I'm the same way. You see the case most, you want a change....the case is (arguably) the easiest thing visually to change. My wife gives me crap all the time about cases coming in and out of the house so rapidly.Of course the teardown/install/cable management phase of going case to case is what REALLY sucks the worst.
P50 is a nice case...nice catch. (guessing you grabbed gar818's in the FS forums)

Tony Ou mentioned this several pages earlier in the thread, including the fan grille removal being required, but it's nice to see visual confirmation. Also, that pic makes me wonder aloud, anyone seen the silver version in person? And what did you think of the interior's looks if so? I really like the silver exterior, but in pics, the silver interior doesn't look that great vs the black models. I'd like to be shown how wrong am am if anyone has some spiffy case porn? Preferably w/ installed mobo/vid/etc?A ATI 5970 does fit if you remove the grille on the bottom center fan!

I'm sure I'll get the FT02 at some point just out of curiosity but it'll be either the RV02 or FT02 then I'm done for at least a year.
I was hoping the FT02 would just be a milder visual version of the RV02 but it turned out to be the needlessly more expensive(IMO) RV02. $100 extra was just not justifiable for a case with a few features I have no interest in. I bought the RV02 so Silverstone still got my money.
2- holds only 3 hdds. The SSD mount is great, but doesn't offset the lack of hdd bays for many customers. This case forces people who use multiple raid arrays (or even a single raid 5/10 array) to buy an SSD or be hampered when doing heavy disk I/O. A lot of people won't touch this case for that reason alone whereas 4+ hdd bays and an SSD would minimize this flaw. 5-6 bays solve the issue completely.
It's impossible to know unless Silverstone actually makes it, but I'd wager that if they simply gave the RV02 the hdd cage from the FT02 (while keeping the RV02's $150-190ish pricing), Silverstone would sell a helluva lot more product. It's baffling that they don't make this simple fix/alteration to the RV02.This kinda stuff is why Antec/Cooler Master/Lian Li make so many case variations; to accommodate a variety of customers.
The RV02 has two critical flaws, and arguably 3:
1- the "stealth bomber" looks tend to either attract people or make them puke. A more conservative visual aesthetic would probably sell more units although it's hard to fault Silverstone for this one. Yin and Yang.

3- case depth. Mid tower height/width but full tower depth. Many people don't want a humongous case that takes up floor space or won't fit in their desk cubbies etc. And people buying cases that are basically full-towers in terms of size often want more than 3 hdds bays.

Oh yeah, and Happy freakin' New Years people. It's fucking 7am and everyone in our hotel room is passed out, but I still can't sleep.![]()
Just got the FT02 and it's amazing. There really is only one thing that I found wrong with it. If you still own an IDE and a standard ATX MB, it won't fit. The power for the CD drive is blocked by the MB. Not really too bad of a con it's just I have to buy a SATA one now. Was hoping to keep this driver till it died lol.
What is the deal with all of these people having IDE dvd drives.. this is [H] forums.. get with the 90s and upgrade those things people.

So I should spend another $30-40 for drive I don't need? My 4-5 year old burner works perfectly fine thank you very much and your exaggeration to "get with the 90s" is the motto of an upgrade junkie. Instead I take a more practical route when upgrading and use that $30-40 I saved to splurge on something that actually matters by buying Radeon 5850 instead of a GTX 275.
If someone is building a new computer from scratch (or buying a Dell) then of course buying IDE is dumb. Otherwise, there's a reason the vast majority of mobos still include an IDE port (no, it's not to piss off tech enthusiasts), and that is because a large number of people still have at least one, if not several, IDE devices.
Or to put it another way, since SATA 6GB is mostly here, are you gonna freak out and feel the uncontrollable urge to upgrade all your hdd/odds over the next 3-4 years? At least in the case of SSDs the new standard will offer some gain for the money spent whereas upgrading my ~2003 burner to SATA offers me a nearly nonexistent performance increase that, if I really really need it, can be experienced by walking across the room and using one of our other computers. Even the flat cable issue matters little with proper routing and rounded cables.

My main point was if you're willing to waste $250 on a purely cosmetic upgrade why wouldnt you want to spend $20 to get a shitty ide cable out of your case.. but lets not get too upset.. it is just the internets.
Kenjiwing, I don't see what you see in that 3007wfp . . . I've got a really sweet Packard Bell 17" CRT I can sell you. Interested???
OK, keep your IDE drives then. Feel better?

I think it's disappointing though. You'd think with the fan setup and the optimal thermal setup as well that the case has, I would think the temps would be even better. Not trying to nitpick here but a degree or two worse on cases that cost less...eh, I just re-lost interest in the FT02 that had just recently come back.Temp numbers look good. It easily beat the CM ATCS840 in everything except HDD cooling. Even beats it with fans on low.
I was under the impression that the FT02 was an aluminum case with steel internal parts.
I got one from a local shop where it was listed as aluminum case but it now seems that the only aluminum parts in it are the drive bay covers and the much-publicized U-shaped aluminum frame. I feel somehow cheated and I think I'll return it. I think that the proper term for it would be "steel case with aluminum accent pieces"
guys i finished my build, sata dvd drives and everything. My blog has the pictures

I have returned a few cases to newegg on these grounds. If you list its only building material as aluminum then what you are saying is it is 100% aluminum not that it contains a small amount of aluminum and a fuck ton of steel.
I didn't even know they made the RV02 w/o a window and don't recall seeing one, but maybe I'm wrong? Also, the LL PC-K62 comes w/ a window. If you don't mind losing the black interior (and seeing the unpainted steel at the rear of the case) there's the K60 for ~$10-15 less which is otherwise the same case AFAIK.
Is this common?
Does Lian-Li or Cooler Master do this?
Since the Antec Sonata was released, I have bought only Sonatas so far and the FT02 was supposed to be my first expensive case.
Now I'm considering ATCS 840, Lian-Li PC-P50 and Lancool K62. I would be interested in buying the RV02 but I can find only windowed version in shops and I hate windows (no pun intented).
like this case, but i'd like to see a smaller version that looks the same but with say 2 5.25 bays instead of 5. would be coooool![]()

not sure they could make it smaller.
