Just curious - do you guys play your games at the same resolutions as your desktops? Or do you play them lower?

desktop is at 1024x768 and I play games at either 1280x1024 or 1280x960

I have my desktop set at 1024x768 and i usually play my games at that as well. I usually run 2x AA and 2xAF.

i always use desktop of 1280x1024 and 1280x1024 in games.

desktop 1152, game at that if supported, otherwise, 1024 w/4xAA + 8xAF. anything below 100hz is unusable for me.

Desktop is at 1280x960 (19" CRT) and I used to play all games at 1024x768 with my Radeon 8500 but my 9700p lets me play 1280 in just about anything I can throw at it :D Most with FSAA and AF even.

Desktop = 1280 x 1024 x 32 bit
Games = Highest res while maintaining smooth gameplay.

Smoothness > Detail

I'm with snafu

1600x1200 whenever I can, it just looks right on a 21" and is also why I don't give much care to FSAA.

iv got a 21" CRT usaully I keep it at 1600x1200 but will drop it too 1280x1024 if the game requires it.

Desktop is 1024x768. I game at that or higher if I can.

BF1942 I max out to 1280x1024.
LOMAC I play at 1024x768 and still barely get playable framerates.

Generally 4xaa and 4xaf if possible.

desktop and games both at 1024x768 since that is the ideal res for my monitor and I prefer it. Max AA/AF in games as well. Get smooth gameplay (except for lag) and framerates.

Desktop is at 1280x1024 and I play my games at 1024x768 mainly. Games like Call of duty I run at 1280x1024 though

800x600 for both:(

I need a serious upgrade before I go any higher and expect any kind of performance.

Desktop 1280x1024 - best for 19"
Games start at 1600x1200 and dial down only if FR sucks.

desktop at 1600x1200
game at 1600x1200 (except for blizzard  games, of course! )

1024x768 for destktop and games. Any higher and games normally get too choppy and things seem to look too small anyway.

Is 1024x768 about right for a 18"?

1600 x 1200 @ 75 hertx for desktop

800 x 600 @ 144 hertz for games

I find it much easier to aim in first person shooters at 800 x 600.

Desktop is at 1280x960 and games the same.

1280x1024 is an improper ratio and is not the correct 4:3 aspect ratio, I don't even know why people use it.

1024x768 @ 32 bit color @ 75hz refresh rate for desktop
800x600 @ 32bit color @ 75hz refresh rate, usually with 4xAA and 16xAF in games; looks like DAYUM:D

i'm monitor limited to 1024x768... anything bigger is hard to read on a 13.something" viewable monitor:(

edit: i turn all the graphics options up to max, usually.

1024x768 or in some cases where smoothness is required (Halo...:S) 800x600.

People run their desktops at 10x7?

Ack!

That's evil or something =P.

1600x1200 here :) (Games and Desktop).

Cheers,

Mr. Pain

Heh I personally think it's evil that way.:p Everyone is diff I guess, but to me high res is only good for games and lousy for desktop. Of course I don't do any mulitasking, nor am in need of lots of desktop space. I don't game at 1024 as that's too low for my liking, but I can't stand a desktop at higher than 1024 res.

desktop at 1280x1024 and I play my games at that or 1600x200 with 2 to 4 AA enabled and quality and game eye candy maxed.

My desktop is 1800x1440 (P1110) so obviously I don't play my games at that res. I play my games as I high of a res I can without sacrifcing playability........or something like that.

I run games in the same resolution as my desktop when ever possible (1280x1024).

well, i do know that lcd's manufactured with a 1280x1024 native resolution are shaped 4:5, so using this resolution looks normal. although, i see where you're coming from.

Well with my old GF3 I would run almost all games in 1024x768. Now with my GFFX 5900 I run at 1280x960. 19" CRT so desktop is also ran at 1280x960 @ 100Hz.
