Ok, I got my 6800GT and I've moved from 1024x768 to a 1280x1024 for gaming but I still prefer the 1024x768 for desktop and internet use. Anyways, can I leave the desktop at 1024 and set a game's options to 1280 without screwing anything up. I know back in the Win98 days the desktop res & color had to match the game but I dont think thats the case with XP, right? Thanks!
 
WinXP? Of course! Desktop rez is completely independent from App rez. Keep your desktop at 1024, and then in the game (or the setup proggie for the game) choose 1280. it will switch between them, even if you alt-tab.
