Resolution Issues

Perhaps this thread will fare better here...

I am using the video out on my Dell 700m laptop to a Dell 2005FPW monitor.

My laptop originally could do 1680x1050 resolution, but that option has disappeared (?)

Now the options I have are:

800x600
1024x768
1280x768
1280x1024
1400x1050
1600x1200
1920x1200

So I have no idea why the option is gone, and I don't know how to get it back, and at these resolutions everything looks warped on widescreen.

The gpu is an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME onboard card. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalilng the hardware/drivers for the vidcard, and the INF files for the monitor...

what's the native resolution of the monitor?

If the display can support it, run it at 1920x1200. It's the same aspect ratio as 1680x1050. It's an intel chipset, so I doubt you are gaming on it...the higher res shouldn't hurt anything. In fact, it should make everything more crisp

I have asked this question on multiple forums, checked dells forums... why is it so fucking hard to figure this out

when you go to your settings tab under display properties....waht does it say for the name of the display?

I know I can't figure it out... but I refuse to believe that there isn't anyone here smarter than me.

Did you ever fix the problem? I just ordered a 2005fpw to hook up to my 700m. I hope I can figure out how to get it to work in the native res.
