Resolution issue since new card install(6850).

Bit of a wierd one, hope you gents can help as I've never owned an AMD card before, nor come across this issue.

Essentially, at any 16:9 resolution other than the native one on my monitor(24" BENQ, 1920x1080 native), my display develops HUGE black letterbox bars at the top and bottom and stretches the image out to the point that about 1/5th is cut off by the sides of the screen on either end. I've hunted through every setting I can find on both the monitor and the new 6850 I installed, and also through the Windows 7 display menues, and I can't find a solution.

I don't think the monitor alone is at fault, as last week running XP and a 9600GTX there was no such issue, but I'm at a loss to figure out the problem.

what are the specs for your system? Also what make/model monitor are you plugging into your 6850?

Hey sorry, my bad.

AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition
MSI C45 Mobo.
4gig Mushkin Silverline RAM.
XFX 6850 Black Edition Dual-fan
Windows 7 Professional 64bit(fully updated, clean install four days ago)
Catalyst 11.4(2D=8.01.01.1142, package ver=8.841-110405a-116954C-ATI )

The monitor is a BENQ G2420HD 24", connected using a DVI to VGA cable(have tried DVI to DVI and HDMI cables borrowed from a neighbour, neither make a difference) desktop resolution is set to 1920x1080 because none of the others work, as described above.

Strange problem, what I woudl try is to go into CCC and on the left click "my digital flat panels" Then click on properties (my digital flat panel), after that make sure the dot is checked to scale image to full panel size. Click apply if not already set that way, if already set that way and applied, try enabling gpu scaling via the check box just above that. Actually there are quite a few options under my digital flat panel, if none of this under properties help, play around with the other settings like under scaling options etc..

As Im using a DVI to VGA, those options are unavailable. Ill try hooking it up with the HDMI cable again and see if that brings up the options you suggest.
