I have a 9800 pro 128mb and it doesn't really handle 1600x1200 rez very well in newer games.

So i am wondering whats the next best resolution to run at so its not all funky out of aspect?

Well, exactly half (800x600) will produce the best results in terms of interpolation, so the monitor won't need to stretch anything. However, the 2001 is pretty good with interpolation, so don't be afraid to go in between. It may not look as bad as you'd think.

I owned a 2001fp for awhile. I thought what little I saw of 800X600 was horrible....perhaps it was the fact that the resolution was so low. It's an old, old resolution that shouldn't even be played with modern games. Fortunately, at 1280X1024, 1158X9??, 1024X768 you don't even notice interpolation....the Dell is that good. Silent Hunter 3 is stuck at 1024 lines and the imaging was superb.

I just returned my 2001FP....horrible for gaming...IMO....1600x1200 was the best though

I am trading my 2001 FP for a 19" 8ms panel myself

Of course I will be stuck with 1280x1024, but at least it wont get the 'out of focus' blur when I make a move in a game like the Dell does.

I kind of like 16x12 in games, but I'll settle with lower res for 8ms screens. The Dell is so bad I almost felt like using my old CRT just for gaming at the same time.

I am telling you guys, LCD's are just not for gaming. I saw this exodus a mile away  I hope you manage to get your cash back when you sell. :D

It looks like that's a sacrifice I have to take. I just ordered a Dell 2001FP. The last game I played was HalfLife 2 back in November so maybe it was a good choice.
