Would there be a problem with having a forum for discussing online stores and stuff? It could be like a subforum of hot deals or something. I think it is an important topic and could help people resolve problems they are having as well as help people to avoid sketchy stores. And maybe even just let people vent about how they got shafted.

I realize there are places like resellerratings but personally I'd value the opinions of those on the hardforum more than a place like that. What do y'all think?

Shop newegg and there is no need for a forum to rant in;) I learned my lesson, ever since I used newegg, no complaints!

Might cause more legal problems for Kyle if some reseller gets pissed. He really doesn't need any more legal hassles at this time, IMO.

I don't think he could get into legal difficulties from having a forum about vendor troubles (though I could be wrong). As long as the mods didn't make any statements about the vendor, everything else is posted by anonymous users of the forum...

As long as people keep it truthful, there is no problem. But this is the internet, people will lie.

But do we need much beyond newegg and pcmall that pricewatch can't find? There are really only a few good places that have the prices, selection, and service. Maybe we should have a sticky somewhere noting the positive experiences with stores. That seems more productive than whining about bad vendors.

As long as it was positive, it would be a good idea, in my opinion.

Newegg, PCmall, pricewatch and Resellerratings of course. I have a ton of small specialty sites I shop at for cooling gear, modding gear, etc. all of which have great ratings... ;)

^^Agreed totally. The extra $3 or so savings from some random merchant is not worth the bullshit.

you still gotta be careful on pricewatch though...i got shafted a month ago by unitedmicro.com. They send me 2 hdds that were DOA and wanted to charge a restock fee.....I just cancelled payment and bought from newegg :D

Yep, if you use pricewatch, follow it up by checking the vendor's rating on resellerratings.com. I never order from anyone with less then an 8 (usually a 9 or higher). Unitedmicro sounds like they deserve their rating of 4... ;)
