Hi All,
Im new, real new, 1st post, great to be part of this ***** site. Whats my line well Im planning a great FS9 rig ( Flightsim 2004 ).

i5...?
Board Intel P6T
4GB DDR3 1600
750W supp
CardGTX275 or better

So am I overkill with 750w power supp Corsair TX / Seasonic X, for FS9 with this spec or right on cue, or....are both..., ample supplies and will never let me down? If 750 is overkill, by all means suggest correct application. All good advice welcome.

Regards,

Berne

First of all, the P6T is an LGA1366 motherboard, so you can't use an i5 CPU in it. You will need to purchase an i7 CPU or switch to an LGA1156 motherboard instead. If you need more help choosing components, ask about it in the General Hardware subforum.

Regarding the PSU, 750W is a bit overkill for that kind of system (assuming you go with an i7). Will you be overclocking at all or adding a second GPU at some point in the future? If not, you'd be good with a quality ~500W PSU. With that said, running the system off a 750W PSU won't harm anything, so you could get one if you really want to.

Hi,
So its a new board for the preferred i5 with a quality 500w supply.

All the best,

Berne

Update: The Q9550 2.8ghz 12MB has just taken the lead.

The 750W will be overkill in the sense that its more than what your system requires. However, keep in mind that the 'sweet spot' where PSUs are most efficient is from 40-60% of their output capacity, so you will have an extra advantage with the larger capacity unit as well as room for future upgrades.
