Moderators: Could you please make this post a sticky? Thank you.

To compare any of the following sized displays to another display, use a wizard created by Display Wars. Their URL is below.
It will create both a text comparison of the differences in width, height, and area, as well as create a visual representation of the differences.

Listed Aspect Ratios
16 x 9 Widescreen
16 x 10 Widescreen
4 x 3 TV, iPad
3 x 2 Phone
5 x 3 Phone
2.35:1 Ultra Wide
21 x 9 Ultra Wide
5 x 4 Monitor

Example: 27 inch 16:9 (2560 X 1440 ) compared to 34 inch 21:9

In case you were interested, I made this as an extrapolation at one point since I felt there were some wrong impressions being made even using a few of the most popular online calculators in regard to ppi vs viewing distances.

Aspect ratio's in regard to HOR+ 1st/3rd person game virtual camera / virtual cinematography:

eyefinity/nvidia surround/ aspect ratios/layouts:

I edited your screenshot to be centric since that is how additional FoV and desktop real-estate is realized between different aspect ratios/virtual lenses. Hope you don't mind.
Don't forget when reading the "area increase" data in the tables, that it means different things. When talking about desktop real-estate for apps and still images the number of pixels makes the difference, not the physical screen sizes/increases. In 1st/3rd person HOR+ games as well as virtual and real cinematrography, the lens' (or screen's) aspect ratio changes the FoV in the game regardless of the pixel density or screen physical size.

No, I don't mind as long as the readers understand that the screenshot that I put up in the OP is what they will see when they use the ScreenWars web site. Both representations are of benefit.
