Request for upcoming Broadwell-E reviews

I REALLY like that yours is one of the few sites that tests CPU's the right way. That's to say eliminating the graphics bottleneck by setting everything to low and keeping things low resolution. Other sites post test after test of useless GPU bound results showing every processor performing the same. You guys do it right.

Could I request though that Firestrike Physics and 3d Mark11 physics be included in your CPU reviews? The 3dmark 11 is old but still one of the best gauges of performance for CPU's. It also scales well with high speed RAM.

Perhaps as well you could include a CPU intensive test like a Total War Attila benchmark. Not the in game one but maybe a custom one where you set everything to low but the unit size and send two max size armies at one another. Or maybe load a save for a Paradox strategy title like CK2 that is in late game and has a lot of things going on and then measure the time from when you click "end turn."

Thanks and keep up the great work!

There's some speculation they will skip Broadwell-E and go right to Skylake-E from what I've been reading. My Sandy-E is still kicking but getting long in the tooth

/edit I should say there WAS speculation they would skip B-E, that may have changed.

I have the same processor has you. It's been really good to me, no complaints. I'm thinking either 6900 or 6850k (8 or 6 cores) but I want to be able to get 5ghz minimum on OC. Anything less and I don't think I can justify it. When DX12 matures there's a good chance these 6 and 8 core cpus will start to deliver some real significant benefits beyond what they do now.

Out of curiosity, what applications are you finding your SB-E getting long in the tooth?

Given its higher overclocking headroom, SB-E is still probably faster than Haswell-E in non AVX benches.

Now, with that being said, the x79 platform as a whole is getting a bit dated.

Minimum? Why do you think 5GHz will be possible at all?

No one really knows what these chips are capable of until we see them in action. My point was that 5GHz is my buy point. Anything less than that and I'm just going to invest in GPU upgrade instead.

Well don't hold your breath, that might never happen. Processors have plateaued at 4-4.5 max for a number of years now for a good reason. There is one quad core 5GHz being released, but to my knowledge, it's the only one.

Intel is just discriminating against people like us. I have a biological need for speed and by denying that Intel is violating my 9th Amendment rights. *Sniff* *sniff* you smell that Intel? That's the scent of me cooking up a class action lawsuit if Broadwell-E comes in just 1 Mhz below 5.

I was able to OC it to 4.6, until I went SLI. With SLI I backed it down to stock due to stability issues. I did not try and ramp it up again after that. Plus I got the first run chips which had the PCI-E 3.0 issue

Stock 5GHz to all cores (4/8/12) is a matter of tehnology (and of course marketing) because of the heat issues

hopefully, the rumors of the Xeon E5-2602 V4 are an indication that at least a quad chip could hit 5ghz. Who knows, maybe the new Xeons will become the hotness, like the Opterons were back in the day of Athlon 64 x2.

uhhmm..Have you not been following any of the recent leaks for the past year?

Broadwell-E is coming out and less than 60 days away. Including the 10cre i7 6950X

Can you guys include my i7 930 6gb ram and a new graphics card from team green?

Its ancient and I want to know if it is worth it for me to buy a new graphics card to play games at 1440p. I want to be able to skip 2011v3 if a new socket will come out next year so that I can hopefully pick up a legit 4K IPS 60hz+ monitor.

I say if Skylake-E comes out next year it will probably be Q4 2017, Q3 at the earliest unless AMD has something with the Zen Server platform that is better than the 10 core / 20 threaded broadwell-e.
