I think the community would like to hear from ATI and NV both as to why there are at least three AIB's sporting NV GPU's that offer lifetime, even double lifetime transferable warranties, allowing the ability to overclock and mod by replacing cooling apparatuses, and all sorts of seemingly insane things that can be done to video cards we spend so much of our hard earned money on, and still get warranty coverage. While at the same time, ATI/AMD AIB's are still offering measly 1 yr (maybe even 90 day?) warranties on products that they market as being "superior" to the competition.....
I don't expect ATI and NV to want to cooperate willingly like with official statements, but I am hoping you guys have some insider info/contacts and can get some information with credibility, maybe people who work for the AIB's will talk "off the record"....
All I know is this, and I know I am not alone.
I have almost always been traditionally Nvidia myself, not sure why, but in the past 5 years or so the reason to stick with it became increasingly clear, with EVGA, XFX and BFG all offering lifetime warranties and even more, why the heck would I give that up? I like to overclock and adapt my cooling to fit my needs. Who doesn't?
I am in a situation now where I am trying to decide between several different cards at the same price point, but the one thing that keeps bugging me is the support aspect of the companies vying for my money. EVGA (yes i am a mod there) i think everyone agrees is setting the bar, dont want to go into detail here and now, XFX is a very close second IMO with the transferable lifetime warranty and great support, with BFG offering at minimum, a lifetime warranty
What is it about ATI GPU's that makes them only willing to offer a 1 year warranty? (Powercolor might be an exception and I would like to know if they are taking the loss on that or what, because the other AIB's haven't jumped on board)
I would like to see some information on this and would like to see a "EVGA'ish" or "XFX'ish" ATI GPU AIB already!!!! I really like the HD2600XT for a build i am working on, but the 8600GT/GTS might just get my money this time around because of the warranty and after sales support from the top three in NV AIB's!!!
thanks.
