REQ: Water cooling solution that never needs to be changed

I have a pretty n00b water cooling setup, so my demands aren’t really high as far as cooling goes. But I would like to know if there is any sort of solution that I could use that won’t evaporate or cause build up or growth in my unit? OEM computers are now coming out with water cooling units that you never need to top off of refill. So I would like to know if I could get a similar thing that will work just as well?

Thanks

I'd say that if you wanna water cool you gotta accept the pros and cons of it. Not just ask for the easy way out. You know what i'm sayin?

You could get the Coolermaster Aquagate Mini R120 or R80. It wont be much better than a good air heatsink though...if at all.

???

Think of it this way: You can usually get away with a year or more of not changing the coolant with just water and anti-freeze. Now, your most likely gonna upgrade within that time, or at least want to change the tubes, so you will be refilling it anyways. My theory is, just go for it, it wont make a difference.

The only OEM "water" cooling units I've seen are heat pipes. This was true for my dad's Dell and several Sony desktop machines I've seen that have advertised watercooling. So, no they wouldn' t need their fluid replaced ever, but they're not really WC.

Cool, I found Alienware's WC info. Looks just like a Koolance CPU block though :p . They don't make any claims that you won't need to refill the system though... and you'd think being Alienware that they'd have that front and center if it were the case. Does anyone have experience with the ALX series that can look in their manual and see what kind of maintenance is required? They don't post their manuals for public viewing.

I did find a review for a "simple" WC solution from a company called TherMagic here. They didn't have kind things to say about it. I also tried to find their website, and it looks like they took it down.

As far as Apple's WC stuff, I couldn't find any info... anyone?

It's cause your not supposta have to fill the apple one ever... it uses a Laing DDC (swiffy 355) pump.

Ah, I see. I read somwhere in all the searching I just did that the system is supposed to be good for about 3 years before servicing. Not bad.

You can make out the pump, rad, and what look like a few heatpipes.

You will note above, that the system is all pipe and hose that you cannot see inside of. Most of us go for the bling ...UV, back lighting our tubes so on. If our coolant gets a bit off color some here go bonkers and feel like an alien life form has taken over their P.C. IMO all pumps will produce a certain amount of material due to wear and introduce it into the system over time. If you crack the above system open in 3 years I would bet the coolant would not look the same as day 1. I know other factors come into play with an automobile but,,, you can change your coolant every year or let it go 4 years.

Don't ever say never or promise me forever.

i see the lines running to the plate mounted under the boards but the others are heat pipes comming off the chips

You can run an average water setup for well over a year without doing any maintenance if you use a decent additive like water wetter, zerex etc. Mines been running for about 16 months but does get drained from time to time to change CPU and Vid blocks when upgrading.
