I am the master of rolling my chair over my headphone cord until they break. I must go through a pair within 1-2 months time. This is due to the wear at home by running over the cords and by the traveling that they do in my LAN bag.

What I would like is to pick up a pair of headphones that have a THICK jacket that will not break as easy. If anyone could make any recommendations that would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Budget?
Someone could come along and suggest the Sennheiser HD650s and an aftermarket cable ($600 for the pair) if you don't include those little details. ;)

Grado headphones have very thick cords. I've owned the MS-1s, and if that's what you're looking for, they are thick. They're also an excellent pair of starter cans.

Recommending what?

I would be more then happy to explain the difference between an example and a recommendation to you but I get the impression that would be a waste of my time.

he didnt specify a budget at first whats wrong with recommendation.

also watch out for them thick cords that have cotton weaves as the sleeving. A500 cords are thicker than the a900ltd as its only one sided. However the a900 is will last longer because its rubberized. The cloth a500 will fray very easy even tho its pretty thick.

You seem to be forgetting one minor little detail.
The "cords" found on most Grado's are not long enough to get caught under a chair. ;)

I am master of smacking my car into things until it breaks. I must go through a car in 1-2 months time. This is due to the wear caused by running into things and the travel from collision to collision.

What I would like to do is pick up a car with HEAVY bumpers that will not bend as easy. Today's modern plastic bumpers just do not cut it.

j/k couldn't help myself :p

Sounds like you are a candidate for wireless.

Gotta ask the obvious question.... Why don't you just replace the cord on the cans you have? Use some stereo PA cable, that stuff is made for abuse.

[edit]

Holy crap! Out of curiosity I Googled for headphone cable, I can't believe the prices on some of that stuff! I sure hope if you need a $300+ aftermarket cans cord you're not listening to mp3's
