You're not being an ass. BTW, I am the dude whose computer is in question. Madweazl is helping me to get it up and running. I (we) hit F6 during the new install of windows XP at the proper time and the menu popped up with a few different drivers on it (as you mentioned) I selected the Silicon Image which is (I believe) the one that comes on the board (the disk came with the mobo) I am going to take a look at the link Sparky sent tonight.

LOL. It's all cool dude. I checked out the link myself and it deals with using the intel version which is part of the chipset. You need to use the intel drivers not the silicon image drivers to follow the directions on the link.
 
Is it preferable to use the Intel drivers versus the Silicon Image ones? And is there anything different that needs to be done to use the SI drivers?

Whether one is better than the other I don't know. To use the SI drivers you would of course have to be sure that your drives are connected to the SATA connectors on the mobo. Also setting up the Serial Image array would be different than instructions specified on that link.
