I did a search and found a thread about replacing the lcd screen on latops, but it veered off topic. I'm looking for more information in regards to compatibility. I have a Compal HL90 NSpire 15.4" i did find one replacment lcd but 215$. I seen other models for a lot cheaper, plus I'm fairly sure my current one has a greature resoulution, ill have to double check on that. Here Anyway I'm posting here cause I wish to know if I need to find the exact model replacement screen or will "any" 15.4 work? I'm newish but very handy and confident I can do the work myself. The quote where i got my computer from wanted 400$ plus id have to wait, ship it to Cali and etc. Thanks

I'm not familiar with what you have but in general there may be different connectors and such making it difficult to adapt screens to your laptop.

Your best bet is to take apart the laptop so you can get the part number off the back of the LCD so you know you are ordering the right one. Not just any 15.4" LCD will work and you should get the one that is the same resolution as the one you currently have.

well, I think you will have to find the exact replacement part number (FTU or whatever they call it). You can find it in the hardware maintenance manual for your model. Once you find the part number, you probably can find it on ebay (I found the 14" for my Thinkpad for $170 shipped :D). Btw, you should find the replacing part manual in the hardware maintenance manual too.

If Compal FL90 LCD fit with your lappy, it has same resolution, I sow that screen for lower than $100.
