Replacing HIS 5770's X2

My board only supports one X16 slot for a video card. The second I believe is X4 so I'm looking to replace my 5770's X2 with a single GPU that can run two monitors and still max out game settings. TBH I don't play games that are extremely GPU dependent (WoW, BFBC2, L4D2)

I'm thinking I should get a GTX 470 1GB card and that will allow me to do everything I need. Just wanted some outside input.

For side notes my system:

CORSAIR 750TX | GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 | Intel Core i7-860 2.8GHz | A-DATA 8GB DDR3
 
You have to stick with ATI, nVidia doesnt have a single card that runs multiple monitors.

I should rephrase, if you want to run Nvidia surround, you need to do SLi, if you just want multiple monitors then the 470 is fine.
 
you can get a 5870 for like 250 or so...I'd hold out for what the 69xx has cuz for the price of a 470 you could probably land a 69xx (if pricing isn't outrageous).
 
Not even for just extended desktop? I thought I could have a hdmi and DVI...
 
Ok thanks giga, the release of those 69xx is a couple weeks from what I remember will do.
 
yeah man just hold out, I too am holding out to see what will replace my 5850s...exciting as crap times coming up

The OP didn't mean he was playing games on two monitors... he just wanted a card that could run two monitors while gaming on one (which is trivial for any card that would replace his 5770's...)

470 / 6870 / 5870 will all perform similar to 5770 xfire with the 5870 having the edge (and generally more expensive). Just find the best deal.

Probably around 250, have to admit I was disappointed in the black Friday sales that's for sure
 
Apparently the OC'd 6950's compare to the 6970's looks like that's the way to go.

Anyone have some experience with the 6950's? Are the drivers working well?

Also I'm concerned with the size, although I have a fairly large case with my CM Scout.

The card will fit fine in your case. AMD is constantly updating their drivers which is a good sign. I would go for it.
