I bought a 125 GB Samsung ssd 3 or so years ago to try it out. Now it is full and I need to replace it. I am going to buy 2 500GB SSD's. New Egg is having a sale on a few drives but I don't know the quality or reliability of these brands.

This is a Crucial MX 200

This is a Mushkin ECO2

Would either of these be a good choice or should I keep waiting for a good price on a Samsung?

SSDs in benchmarks show different performance, but in real life, for the average user / workload, they are all the same.

That said, samsung is one of the best ssd manufacturers, one of the few that has their full chain of supply own or controlled by them, and they do make very good ssds. SSDs like 850Pro are expensive but offers the best in the market performance and 10 year warranty. So this is improtant and you dont mind the waiting game...

One the other hand, Micron/Crucial is another of the big manufactuers of ssds, has a very good track, and has been placing great ssds on the market each gen, i have owned 5 crucial ssds over time, and all have been great. So, If the price is right for your budget, and you dont want to keep on the waiting game, the Crucial MX200 is a good ssd, among the top of what i would recommend aside from Samsung.

Thank you for the information. I ordered 2 of the Crucial drives. I saved $30 so for $135 each I can't afford to wait.

I tried that deal yesterday and it is dead. Otherwise I would have had 2 of those.
