I am looking into upgrading my church's CRT with a LCD. I was wondering if I would have any issues cranking down the resolution on a LCD to 800x600.

Here is the current setup:

CRT (15")
LCD Projector

Y cabled together.

I was thinking of going with a Hanns·G HC-194D 19" LCD, but was concerned with the native resolution causing issues. Thanks in advance.

Theres no way I'd run a 19" LCD at 800x600. I wouldn't even want to run a 17" LCD at that resolution. Both 17 and 19" LCDs run at 1280x1040, which isn't exactly a 4:3 ratio like 800x600 is - so if you run it at that non-native resolution you're going to have some vertical stretching. I'd say your best bet is to get a 15" 1024x768 and leave it at that resolution. If you must you can try going down to 800x600, but IMO it's not worth it. If you're wanting that res for readability, you're going to lose it because I guarantee that 800x600 will be very fuzzy if it's not native.

Stick with 1024x768, it's readable enough - even for my grandfather.

I was afraid of that. I guess I will go with another CRT, probably a 17". The current CRT is failing and needs to be replaced. It is used for PowerPoint Presentations so it needs to be readable for the user to display, but the biggest issue is the mounted LCD Projector max resolution is 800x600, so I have to stick to that res. Thanks again for all your help.
