Replacing 4890

I'm looking to replace my 4890 with something that has less power draw and doesn't pump out as much heat while the fan isn't on full blast. I'm running this in a small mATX case (Lian Li PC-V 354). A drop in performance is not something I would look forward to, but either is spending over $250. Ideally I would like option in two brackets, the $150-200 and $200-250 ranges.

6850 for $170 or 6870 for $215. Both card use less power, are more quiet, and are faster then your 4890.
 
6850 is perfect for what you need. I have the 6850 and 4890, so if you have any questions let me know.
 
I have the same case with a 6950 2GB and it runs admirably. Nice and cool, 40c idle and low 80's loaded.
 
I think I might go with the MSI 6850 with the cyclone cooler. From what I'm reading it should be the sweet spot.
 
HD6950 uses the same amount of power as the HD4890 really, and it's a good 60% (1920x1200) to 70% (2560x1600 or eyefinity) faster.
Alternatively you can still get a 30-35% boost with an HD6850, and cut your power consumption by almost a third.
