Im looking at possibly removing the RAID 0 set up I have now which uses 2x36Gb 10,000 RPM raptors with just a single 150Gb 10,000 RPM Raptor.

I've heard that 1x 74Gb Raptor performs roughly the same as 2x36Gb in RAID 0, Im assuming thats because it read/writes to the platters in parallel so the more platters (the more space) the faster the read/write times?

Anyhow my current set up is very fast as you can imagine but I would like to see If I can make this a bit faster, I don't need the extra space and I don't care about the pitfalls of RAID and data loss, all my sensitive data is stored elsewhere and my C: just holds windows and the applications/games I use.

Specifically looking for links to reputable benchmarks of Raptors in RAID 0 and on their own for a comparison, as the 150Gb Raptor is expensive, I also might look at buying a 2nd one in a year or so's time to get RAID 0 back up with 2x150Gb >.<
 
Actually don't worry about it, tomshardware has a benchmark for these drives and shows my ones and the 150Gb ones and the increase in seek time and data transfer isn't really as much as others made out it to be, but the RAID solutiosn obviously have much faster data read/write speeds due to parrallel writing, I'm going to stick with my RAID 0.
 
Hahahaha....no.

The WD1500ADFD is a full 50% faster than the WD360GD in all but one of SR's single user tests (Only 43% faster in WoW :rolleyes: )

Heck, it's even 50% faster in linear transfer performance...which is what running RAID-0 is supposed to improve.

Never mind that the single drive won't need and F6 driver to install Windows.
Never mind that the single drive is more reliable.
Never mind that the single drive uses less power, puts out less heat, etc

Where do people get this garbage about RAID-0?
