Replaceing a Dell Laptop Mobo

Hey everyone, i got a friend who has an older dell laptop, Inspiron 2600 or something with a bad mother board. My question is, how diffcult is it to replace the motherboard out of a laptop. I can build a desktop PC with my eyes closed but never done anything with laptops. Is it pretty much just unscrewing everything and unplugging cables? Or is its more invloved. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance
 
Hmmm, that really is old. Do you have the new motherboard already? If not, I'd probably tell your friend to go get a new system. Mobos on eBay are pretty spensive in their own right, and many aren't even guaranteed to work.

Anyway, swapping out motherboards in Laptops isn't too difficult. You may end up removing more screws than you need if you've never worked on that particular model before. But Dell's are fairly easy to get apart in my experience.
 
I would also agree that it would be pretty easy. I replaced a 3800 mobo twice and it was easy as pie.
