Replace Front Speakers on z 5500?

Well recently thanks some members here i purchased an asus xonar dx sound card. it will arrive by tomorrow!.. one day shipping =]

Now.. some people told me my speakers are whats killing me. So i was wondering if its possible to replace my front speakers on the z 5500 with something slightly better im willing to spend up to 100-140.

I think so far reasearch showns i need to.. get 8ohm and something... about crossover.. not over 150? not sure.. lol.. so im wondering did anyone here attempt to switch out the front two satellites with something better. I plan to later down the road get a whole set.

EDIT:Thank you all i decided why spend another 150 on front speakers when.. i could just spent alittle more for a better setup

Yes you can upgrade them and they will be better with a pair of bookshelves any pair will do better.

Thing is it wont out put frequencys lower that 150 Hz to the sat's.
 
Another option you may have is to get powered monitors and just use them in place of the front satellites, i.e. you would hook the monitors to your soundcard's front l/r socket. You could still use your rear satellites, sub and center channel from the Z5500.

FWIW, I tried using a bookshelf in place of the front l/r channels on my Z5500 and switched back to the satellites. The sound quality difference that the bookshelves made wasn't good enough to justify the extra space that they occupied.
 
Yes, the av 40s will work and will sound better than the normal front pair. However any speakers you get will probably sound a little weird with the center channel.
