Replace Fan in Leadtek 6800GT?

Hey there

I've got the above mentioned card and recently my fan has just about died. Its still running but very slowly making my idle temps around 65° and heading up to almost 100° under load.

Since it's not a problem with the card itself I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with swapping the fan on this card rather than going through the whole RMA process. I know it's a 60mm fan but not really sure how I could mount a standard fan in there, or if I could even fit a larger one in? I looked at the card a bit last night as I was trying to figure out what was wrong (just happened yesterday) and it doesn't really look like a standard 60mm fan would fit, but I'm not really experienced with modding.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm hoping to pick up the new fan on Monday and get it on there. :D

I think some guys have modded theres and put an 80mm or so on it.

Something easy for you would be to just get a nv5 silencer. It'd be similar (or better) performance.

Don't think I'd really want to go with the silencer considering the awesome HS that's already on it. Only thing I've found is that a 60mm fan with fit perfectly over the hole where the grill is. Not a pretty solution but it might have to do.

Wouldn't be worrying about it if they had an advance replacement program, but I don't have a spare card that I can use while I wait for an RMA to come back.

I've contacted Leatek's service dept. about RMA'ing the card. It was never a great overclocker anyways.

Don't really want to go without a card for any length of time but we'll see how they respond. I've read a few horror stories about Leadtek's RMA service so I'm a bit leary of sending it out to them.

Might just be better off modding the card to put a better fan in it.
