Replace Canon A70

My A70 died on me, and I need to replace it. I really don't have a lot of money to spend, but I want something that is at least as good to replace it. I loved this little camera. I used the manual controls all the time, so that is a must. The image quality of the A70 really impressed me as well. I guess I was just used to it, and knew how to take some good shots with it.

Can you recommend a decent replacement for me?

Also, let me ask this...

The A70 has been replaced by numerous cameras over the past couple of years. There was the A75, A80, A85, etc. Now there is the A530, A540, A610, etc. Have all the newer cameras improved on the past ones? In other words, would it be fair to say that the A530 is a better camera than the A70?

I really like the idea of the A630 or A710is. Maybe even the S2is. I just really don't want to spend that kind of money right now. I had also been looking at the Fugi F30. Does the Fugi have all the manual controls that the cannons have?

Lots of questions I know, but I am trying to make a good decision here. Thanks for taking the time.

I am in the exact same boat, too bad you did not get reponses. Did you find a new camera?

My wife dropped my A70 on the garage concrete floor, that is pretty much what killed it.

Since this was not planned, I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, but I think I will look at the slim camera's, my wife thought the A70 was too bulky. Her best friend has one of the new slim Cybershots, probably why she thought the A70 was big.
