I am looking to replace my Nvidia MSI 460GTX 1gig. I want a card that is much better for $250.00, if not I will just stick with this one for now. I am really looking for a big frame rate boost of around 20 frames. My current game I am enjoying is guild wars II.

Specs

2500K
8g
460GTX
600 watt psu

Only need one.

Thanks! :)

20 more fps shouldn't be too hard... what is your fps now?

I'm in the same boat but with the 768mb version which is still running quite well. New? A 7850 offers around 50% more performance for most games and in some cases (Skyrim) it can be double the performance.

Used is a bit more open. A GTX570 would probably do you well and you should be able to find one used for under $200. Stores are clearing inventory on the 570's as well and so keep an eye out on the hot deals section.

I'd still wait another month so the 660ti can be released and a bunch of used cards can pop up. Hopefully the price of the new cards (7850/7870) will drop, too.

Have you OVERCLOCKED your GTX 460? You'd be crazy not to.

Most cards will clock to 800 MHz or more without touching the voltage. If your card is stock (675 MHz), that would likely boost your performance %15-20.

If that's not enough for you, wait couple weeks for the 660 Ti to be released - it should improve things in your price bracket, along with giving you an Nvidia option that doesn't use tons of power.

No reason not to wait to see what the 660ti does with the current gpu pricing since the release is right around the corner.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I OCed and got 0 gain in frame rates so I guess the game is more CPU bound right now then GPU. I also had a driver crash after 20mins or so--I then set everything back.

I guess I will wait for the 660ti if they improve the GPU use.

Thanks all, have a great week!

They range from low 20's to high 70's. low 20's in WvW.

I also run xsplit and that kills me by 15-20 fps I found out.... :(
