Replace 19" CRT with 19" LCD?

I've currently got a 6 year old Mitsubishi diamond plus 91 diamondtron NF monitor and was wondering if now was the time to replace it with an LCD. The LCD i'm looking at is the Samsung 930BF with a response time of 4ms. How does this monitor measure up? Is it worth purchasing when my current monitor is still decent?
 
Mitsubishi is one of the few companies that used proprietary phosphors that held their brightness far better then other CRT bases monitors. As such even though you have lost brightness you haven’t lost as much as many other units.

The switch to LCD is apparently a very traumatic experience for many and they never do make the adjustment, others do quite well and are happy.

The only way you will know for sure is to try one and properly calibrate it. I’d suggest living with it for a few weeks before making a final decision.
 
What resolution are you running your crt? If you're running 1280x1024 then the switch to a 19" lcd 'should' be seamless. If you're running 1600x1200 on your crt then you might be a little disappointed with a 19" lcd that only does 1280x1024
 
Judging by your wish to buy an LCD with a fast response time, I'm assuming that you're a gamer. In which case, you will most likely be dissapointed by an LCD (considering that CRT's are generally accepted as being superior to LCD's in gaming).

I will concede, however, that when working with a stale background (ie. word processing), LCD's to tend to be superior to CRT's.
 
I run at 1280x1024 for both desktop and games. Yeh, i'm a bit of a gamer but i use my pc for all sorts.
 
1280x1024 is wrong resolution to be used in 4:3 displays as in the normal CRT's. Correct resolution would be 1280x960.
 
I can't really tell much difference in aspect ratio between 1280x1024 and 1280x960. But yes, i am aware i should use 960.
