• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

holy small resolution, batman

anyway, I'm gonna have to chalk this up to malware. the fact that there's so many "rogue" processes is disconcerting from the start, but the fact that they also are showing significant cpu and memory usage indicated they're actually DOING something too.

Virus/spyware/Trojan scan ASAP

You might want to keep IE from executing while you are trying to clean things up. A rule blocking its execution by hash and a reboot will help.

How to from Microsoft.

If you use active desktop, you will have IE running, but I've never seen that result in 8 instances of it.
