I didnt get any luck with the search so heres my problem:

A friend of mine has an hp pavillion P4 2.53 laptop... Its actually pretty nice.. but anyway, it got beer speeled on it and it was apparently dropped, apparently all in one night... sucks.. anyway.. she gave what was left to my friend and myself, we got everything working except the battery, and the LCD screen is EXTREMELY dim.... apparently the cold cathode (if thats what it even is) behind the panel is out, im assuming from the drop..

my question is, does anybody know where i can order a new backlight and somehow obtain instructions on possibly replacing the cathode? I am able to take the entire panel apart so all I probably need is a set of general instructions, and what to look for when replacing this... i dont have a picture of the screen yet, but all i can say about it is that the screen looks like its off but you can see a hint of white in the spots that have actual white in them.. if anyone can post a picture of an lcd with a dead backlight ill probably be able to confirm if it looks the same..

so if anyone has any information/instructions on how to repalce the backlight it would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

Not to be a vulture, but if you have no luck I'm interested in getting my hands on a laptop with a broken backlight. I may be able to take it off your hands.
