Repair Logitech Speaker Wire (mini-din plug)?

Hi, I have the Logitech z540 speakers, I use the z540 whenever I dont want to have Sennheiser HD580 and company clamping my head, which is very often. However, due to wear and tear, the speaker dont work. The problem is in the thick wire connected to the front-right speaker that ends in a 11 pin mini-din plug that connects to the subwoofer. Most of the wire is fine, except for the side with the mini-din plug. The rubber wore off, and the speakers ceased to work, so I carefully used a knife to shave off the rubber, exposing the bare mini-din plug, string, and the wires that reside inside of the thick black rubber coating. There are black, blue, green, orange, and red wires (rubber coating), and another black wire coating that holes braided grey, brown, purple, yellow wires (rubber coating), and uncoated metal wires. The metal wires are very disconnected, for rougly an inch and half, those uncoated metal wires that lead to the plug are not a continuous strand, they are very disconnected. Is there a way to repair the wires? I have tried to solder those wires but I did a terrible job and almost burned through the brown rubber coating of a nearby wire. My speakers are out of warranty. A friend has a similar problem with his z560s.

Any way to fix them? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks
