Was building a new SLI system for a customer yesterday using two MSI 6600GTs. Everything was coming along swimmingly until I went to set the case upright and heard a "ping" in the bottom of the case. Turns out a large cylindrical capacitor on one of the vid cards just plain FELL OFF. It's not that big a deal in that we have plenty of stock to replenish from, but if I were building this for myself and had to RMA and wait some more, I'd be plenty upset.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Ludicrous.

That still sucks...I wonder how many people had that happen to them?

I have never had a cap fall off of a video card, but I did break a few off of my old SB AWE64 sound card. Easy fix with a little solder though.

I can't say I've ever had a cap just.... fall off. I've broken plenty in my day though...

One of the tests when inspecting before buying a motherboard was to shake it and make sure nothing is loose. You're saying we're gonna have to do that for video cards now too?
