Rendering Computer

Hi i am in the search of for the ultimate motherboard for rendering. I plan on using, Solid works, Maya, and probably some sketch up and CAD-mostly revit. However, i cant find the right motherboard. Which is better from the two i have chosen?

asus z8pe-d18 server motherboard- benefits are dual lga 1366

it really depends on what kind of rendering you plan to do.. its been a while since ive used any of those programs.. but if they now support GPU rendering.. then id go with the p6t7 and load it up with a couple gtx 295's(horrible gaming cards, but the best card you can get for rendering besides the ati 4870x2)..

but even then a standard x58 board with SLI would work.. unless theres a way to run say 6 gtx 295's without sli bridges and off load all the rendering to each card.. i know it works for the folding@home gpu stuff but im not sure how well it would work for rendering..

if they dont support gpu rendering.. then the dual socket lga-1366 is the best route to go..

Buy a dell precision and get something built specifically for what you want

Quadro card drivers are geared just for that, yes the cards are expensive blah blah, but the software your talking about is worth far more than a nice precision quadro base system anyways

Thats all I use here on my network for Solidworks, Catia, lots of autocad but that doesn't need much to run.

I run ADT 2010 and 3dsMAX 2010. I use a nice gamer MB, Rampage 2 Extreme, with the xeon i7 d0 processor on it & an ATI v8700 GPU. It is an order of magnitude faster than my previous system (a Q9550 based system with a v7700 GPU)

None of the rendering, for my products, is done on the GPU. I know nvida had some capability to do that at one point, but last time I checked it was not updated for the latest releases.

I was thinking of using the asus one since it has sli, becuase i want to run 2 quadro 3800 cards in sli. Its more economical even though there 800 dollar cards.
