rendered or real time?

cancelled?

thats gay..this looked pretty good... that heat coming off the one jet was bad ass

Fuckin sweet nuclear explosion though. I hope they make another World in Conflict game using this technology.

im wanting a EVE style game, but more of a FSS...(first ship shooter) lol..

if that makes since.

Yep. Actual gameplay could look (or could have looked) very similar to this, though.

Yeah. But then nobody will be able to run the game on high for 10 years :)

Not to mention the dozen DVDs required to supply the textures for that scene!

Thats pre-renderd for sure, but I dont think we're far off getting things that look like a very good aproximation of that level of detail.

We already have highly detailed heightmap for terrain which we can tesselate to give appropriate amounts of detail at variabe range, we can already handle large textures via technology like megatexture, models that high detail arent a problem especially with tesselation. Smoke is do-able with realtime physics using PPU/GPU.

Most of the impressive parts are the effects, the explosions and smoke, honestly I think a top of the range DX11 card like the 5970 could render something an awful lot like that in real time.

I don't know. Every DirectX release video looked exactly like that to me, yet never see anything close to that ingame. Take a look at Dirt 2 DX 11... it's a joke. Maybe the technology allows it, but what good is it if literally no hardware will be able to run it for 15 years.

Like putting an engine in a car that can run at 500000000 MPH (wow, that's pretty fast), but the chassis will melt at 2000MPH. No use

i dont think its gonna be to much longer before graphics like that are the standard. GPU processing is pushing the market in a big way right now. I would argue 3-4 years before we see stuff like that rendered real time.

just my opinoin

dirt was developed with the consoles limitations in mind, then they tacked on dx11.

cancelled? bummer - the trailer actually got me interested. Like HAWX, only without all the fail.

I've played two games like that in the past. Both kind of cheezy, but good fun nonetheless. they were:

Freelancer
Tachyon: The Fringe

Wow!

Whatever it is I want to see more and play it!

Holy crap!!! Twin Vulcan cannons????
