Removing Windows XP account privacy?

Hey guys. I bought a new Hard Drive and am in the process of transferring all my files over. I kept my old drive in my system as a secondary, and I can access it through my computer on the new one. The only problem is my folder that holds all my files is access restricted, I since went back and removed the password but the account privacy that restricts access from other users is still in effect.

How can I remove this protection so I can transfer my files?

What OS is your new system running?

Anyway you have a security tab under the folders properties. Under advanced you have to take ownership of the folder. You can then give your account rights.

With xp home you have to do this in safe mode as the tab doesn't show up normally if I remember right. XP pro it does. Vista has it in the business version but I'm not sure if it does in the home(vista asks you if you want it to change the permissions though).
 
First of all, make sure you are an Administrator on the account that is PULLING the files off the hard drive. Also, importantly, right click on the files and ensure that Encryption is not on. Your best bet is to log into the machine under the user who created those files to double check the admin and encryption.
