Removing welcome screen? (XP)

So i'm running nothing but SageTV now (although I plan on running some background servers to make use of the box) on my system, and I don't want anyone to be able to see the windows side of it. I want new log on and log off screens to replace the blue ones, but I can't seem to find any info on replacing them, just info on how to remove the log on screen (but not the images)...

Trying to cut things down to a minimum here...

It will if you do this:

Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off > uncheck both boxes
 
No that's not what i'm talking about. Here is the boot order:

1. bios screen
2. system summary (still in dos/non-gui mode)
3. xp loading screen with progress bar
4. welcome screen for a couple seconds (autologon IS enabled)
5. desktop

#1 i'm going to remove by enabling the full screen logo in the bios and reflashing with a bios that i've added my own logo into.

#2 can be disabled via the bios and what little text does show will be a quick flash at most.

#3 I want to change to a SageTV logo with a grey/white progress bar, or something similar. I don't want anything saying XP or Windows

#4 no one seems to understand. I am NOT trying to enable auto-logon, that's already enabled. For a few seconds between #3 and #5 it shows a blue screen that says "welcome" while logging on automatically. I don't want that to show, or I want to change it to a black screen/image.

#3, make a custom boot screen using whatever method you feel like.

#4...something involving disabling fast user switching, I think. Or possibly some setting that makes it "use old login style" or whatever. Except that part might make it mess up the autologin. Alternately you can make a custom login screen, which is easier than the custom boot screen, and you're going to have to do that already anyway.

Possibly, but I'm pretty sure that if you goto start -> run -> gpedit.msc and look through the endless amounts of crap there is an option to disable the welcome screens.

ill quote myself as in showing you what you need. My windows is a mac clone, nothing on my computer looks like windows, including the boot screen, the login screen and the entire windows skin.

go to the site, for custom boots, click on bootskins, they have almost 2000 to choose from or you can learn how to make your own.

then to hide the login for the split second, click on logons, the have over 2000 to choose from or again you can learn how to make your own.

you just quoted something and said the same thing,

besides if you would have read the entire thread, he has already done that and is looking for something to hide the windows "Boot Screen", as well as a second or so of the logon screen.
 
I know exactly what he's talking about. Even if you change the boot screen and enable the autologon, disable fast user switching and secondary logon, you still see a second or two of the "Welcom" screen.

AFAIK, the only way you may be able to get rid of that is to use something like Resource Hacker and edit the actual .dll or .exe files that windows uses during that part of logon.
 
i just used to the prog i linked to and i dont see any of the normal XP welcome screen
 
Aku - you linked to a site with MANY programs. Just exactly which one did you use? I've used logonstudio and bootskin but even though the boot screen has been changed, the logon screen has been changed, I still see a second or two of the blue "Welcome" screen during login (even with autologon).

Im at work right now, maybe i just dont pay enough attention, i just ever remember seeing it, ill check when i get home
(i only turn my computer off when i install new stuff that makes me)
 
ok, just got home and rebooted my computer. There are no blips or anything to let you know that it is windows at all. I dont know why yours is showing a little of the windows, but mine goes straight to custom bootskin, then a black screen, then the custom logon. Never once did i see a bit of blue, or any sign that it was windows xp loading.

the only thing you can tell that looks like xp, is if i logoff, taking me to the logon screen, then click shutdown buttom, the blue defalt windows would you like to restart, shutdown or cancel options.
 
Is there anyway to change "Welcome" into something else, like "Howdy"?
 
weird...oh well...guess I'll mess with it next time I re-install. thanks for the verification though ;)

Yes, the same way, but you might have to create it yourself.

I was messing around this morning and i think i figured it out why you guys are getting this. You have windows set so that it does not go to the Windows XP Welcome screen. Since you dont it uses the Classic Windows NT login screen (the login "prompt"). Since this is not the Welcome login, the custom login skin does not get used.

Try going back in and selecting that you have to go to the Windows Welcome screen and installing logonstudios.

does this sound like what is happening?
